    Default advice please!

Hi ladies, need some advice. Firstly, I am 13 days late for my period, I'm usually quite irregular but done two home tests which both were negative so I went to the doctor yesterday and got a blood test done. I just got the results then and the doctor says she can't tell me if I am or not because my levels are 7? If I were pregnant she said id be about 5-6 weeks and my levels should be in the thousands. What does this exactly mean? I am getting another blood test done in a week. I am not trying for another baby but am not very great with taking the pill, I'm so dissapoited in myself. Any advice would be Much appreciated.

Ask for a referral for an ultrasound and a repeat blood test.
There can be plenty of reasons for a missed period though, and you did say yours are irregular. If you don't take the pill properly it can mess up your cycle.

Thanks for the replies. I should of asked for a ultrasound but didn't think. I had my dd 2.5 years ago with a bit of trouble and also had a missed miscarriage a year ago. So confusing I just wish AF would show!

Had second bt yesterday and got results this morning. HCG levels are now 670. Even more confused because they are climbing but slowly..have another bt next week. Doctor wouldn't give me a ultrasound, should I maybe go to another doctor and try and get a ultrasound or wait

So sorry you're going through this. Ultrasounds don't show anything until your levels reach a certain point.... I think it may be around 5000 (can't remember the exact number sorry, but definitely over 1000)... so I imagine this is why your doctor won't send you for a ultrasound yet.

Having said that, your levels are rising... there is a website where you can input your levels and at what dates the blood was taken and it will give you you're doubling time. Normal is between 24-48 hours. http://www.baby2see.com/preconception/hcg.html

If you find it's slower than that and still rising, I'd be asking to see a specialist. My levels were rising, very slowly, and I had an ectopic pregnancy, which is something to look out for.

So sorry you're going through this, but please insist they keep checking your bloods just to make sure.

Sorry I just did the doubling time and it looks like they're doubling at a good rate! Maybe you just O'd later and you're not as far along as you thought you may be??

    Good luck

Thanks for the advice. It is quite possible I ov later, my cycle is all over the place. I will give it another week and hopefully i will get more answers. Me and my partner are definitely not ready for another baby, I haven't even told him what's going on. I wanted to know myself, before I placed any stress on him.
