Default This is doing my head in - am I pregnant or not?

I'm hoping to hear from women who have had similar experiences to this, and what their outcome was. Apologies in advance for the massive post.

My baby girl (my second) is 4.5 months old. Two a half weeks ago, DH and I dispensed with the condoms and decided to just let what happens happen. Ten days after the first time we BD'd without protection, I was taking my usual OPK & pregnancy test combination (trying to keep track of things) when I was shocked to see a light, but definite second line on the pregnancy test (an eBay cheapie). I took three more tests, and all showed the same result. I went out that day and bought a pack of two ClearBlue digital tests. I took the first the next morning, and got 'not pregnant'. I also used another of my other pregnancy tests and got a faint line again. The next morning I got a faint line on two cheap pregnancy tests. The next morning (yesterday) I used two more of my cheap tests, got two more faint lines, and tried the CB test again. Still 'not pregnant'. I realised I needed to buy folic acid tablets if we weren't trying to avoid pregnancy, and so I picked up some ForeLife digital tests at the same time. Tried a mid-afternoon sample with one and another cheapie, and got a negative result on both. Missed my first morning pee this morning because I slept in and didn't want DH to find out that I was obsessing, but tried a cheapie with the second pee and got a negative. So it's now five days since that first postive test with the faint, but distinct line. I know it's not an evap, because I've been checking them all within a few minutes. It's not an hallucination either - I don't have to squint or hold it at just the right angle to see it.

    To sum up:
Day 1: definite but faint lines on four cheap pregnancy tests
Day 2: 'not pregnant' on CB digital, definite but faint line on on cheap pregnancy test
Day 3: faint line on two cheap pregnancy tests
Day 4: 'not pregnant' on CB digital, definite but faint lines on two cheap pregnancy tests. Mid-afternoon test was negative for ForeLife digital and cheap pregnancy test
Day 5: second pee of the morning negative on cheap pregnancy test

    Some more background information:
When DD2 was two months old, and after my postpartum bleeding had stopped, I had bleeding very similar to a period. In fact, I thought it was a period, but I haven't bled again since.
I am exclusively breast-feeding DD2 and haven't noticed any changes in supply or her reaction to my milk.
After DD1 was born, my cycles did not resume until she was 11 months old, and I fell pregnant again after the first period.

So, help! I'm going crazy trying to figure if I'm pregnant, if I'm getting false positives, if (God forbid) I'm having a chemical pregnancy, etc.

Can you post a photo of the tests? I think the only way you can find out is to go to the doctors for a blood test. Good luck

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I can't upload photos as DH has the card reader with him. The cheapies were from two separate lots, bought at separate times.

It sounds to me like a chemical pregnancy? Or perhaps you are pregnant and its just super super early and thats why its not showing up on a CB digital. I agree with getting a blood test as the only way to find our yes or no. Good luck hun!

Same thing this morning; faint line, but negative on digital. By now, I think it must be false positives. My sensible side tells me to leave it alone and resume my once-weekly testing - which I do to keep track of things, since I don't know when my cycles might be/have come back. My stupid side is telling me to buy the First Response test - my heart wants it to be positive, even though my head knows it would be pretty lousy timing. Hopefully sense will prevail.

tbh i would buy a frer. just for peace of mind. i would think that with 2 diff batches of preg tests that come up positive that you would have to be preggo. it might just be that the hcg level in your urine is not strong enoigh to register on a cb test. hugs. how frustrating. possibly wait a couple of days and test agaain with A frer test.or get a blood test xx

Got the SD card reader from DH...

Could be evaps? I did read them as soon as the dye cleared, but they're certainly not getting any darker.

    Thanks for all the replies

Given you've been testing for 5 days or more, I would have expected your tests should be getting darker, and hcg should be high enough to detect on frer or digital.

I think the only conclusive way to find out is to go get a blood test. Then there will be no confusion in the result.

    Good luck

They look positive. No squinting necessary to see the lines
