Default baby bath on lend and getting it back....

I'm interested to see the condition it's in or if its even the right one! I find it odd that its taken this much effort to get it back.

Friend just had their first baby...a baby girl. I have all my DDs clothes left from 0000 to size 1 and gave them the lot as they had nothing (I assumed). They profusley thanks me and even said theu had nothing.

So just heard from my SIL that the friend said she has been given so much stuff that all the things I have given her she has given to her friend that is having a garage sale so she can sell all the stuff!

    What the...?

If she didnt want it give it back! There were heaps of near new stuff and sleeping bags that I was going to sell myself that I thought I would be a good friend and give it to her. Just would have been nice if she had of said..."gosh there is so much...I dont need it all. Do you want it back?" Thats what I would have done in that situation.

So OP I feel for you. Its pretty obvious she has broken/lost the baby bath. She should just own up. What is she...5 years old? Say sorry...give you some money to cover it and its done.
I'd ring her up and say you have another friend who is pregnant and anything she decides not use let you know as you'll pass it on to her. Or tell her you've just found you're pregnant - but when she's finished you'd like your things back, just to see what she says!

I would never sell or pass on stuff someone had given me unless I'd checked 1st that they no-longer wanted it! And I couldn't sell it and make money on something I'd been given! I have passed on a couple of items I was given, but I have checked with the original owner 1st to make sure it's ok to pass it on.

OP - glad you got your baby bath back!

    That's a great outcome.

It's funny I've been reading along thinking I bet there is no hidden agenda she just hasn't got the time to get it out. I have done this. My BF lent me her cradle for DD1 and when she was 28 weeks pregnant asked for it back. We had stored it in an attic above DD's bedroom and it was a total pita to get it out. I couldn't get it on my own, or when DD was asleep. I kept putting her off as I knew she still had 3 months to go and honestly thought she wouldn't mind as we were struggling with sleep deprivation. In the end she got narky and we gave it back. She was 30 weeks and her baby arrived when she was 40 weeks.

I know it was hers and I should have just given it back when she first asked, but there were lots of reasons why it didn't happen, and she was no worse off for waiting. If I'd known how annoying it would become I wouldn't have borrowed it. In the end for the next 2 kids I didn't borrow anything as it's not worth the hassle.

I'm not defending your friend but so many people have been so quick to assume the worst of her. 8 pages devoted to it on a public forum. Sometimes people are just busy.
