Thanks! How did you know it wasnt your waters at first and that it was your waters later?

Yeh I've had 'watery discharge' with all of mine. Always had me wondering if this was it. Yes it IS suppose to smell like semen, I remember with #5 I could have sworn that it smelt like semen so I went in to check and it came back negative but I reckon I was having a slight leak at that stage, because the semen smell was really strong...but anyway.

When the waters break naturally it all depends on where the bag breaks and where the baby's head is in relation to the break. So for instance, if you have a hind water leak where the bag breaks up the top somewhere it would be a slow leak...kind of like what you described actually. If it breaks lower then there will be huge gush and it will just keep coming. Kinda like someone got a glas of water and just tipped it out in one big gush...then it just keeps coming...I got several gushes with one of mine.

    BUT

If the baby's head is very low it can kind of plug the opening, I've heard of some women would give birth then all the waters followed because the head plugged the uterus and the water couldn't come after the initial break (small amount)

In your case, if they're saying that it's not amniotic fluid, I would just go with that for now. In my experience with funny runny mucus...it's not much longer. Things are definetly starting to happen so I say do a few squats and some walking and if you want take some evening primrose oil to really get those braxtons going. Quite honestly I wouldn't expect that you're going to be intact for too much longer

When they checked at the hospital, how did they check? For me, I had to lie flat for 20 minutes & let it 'pool', then they took a swab to establish whether it was amniotic fluid or not.
They did a swab and asked me to cough while doing it. Then she said its not my waters just very watery discharge. So i stopped worrying. But theres still heaps of it everyday, sometimes it smells like semen( we havent dtd for 9months so couldnt be) but its just like texture of water, dont know how it can be discharge.

See one of mine smelled strongly of semen (and we hadn't DTD for a long time) and they made me lie down for 20 mins to let it pool as well...then checked and came back negative. It's strange because I could have sworn that it was amniotic fluid but nup it apparantely wasn't...so I dunno!
