I always thought people invited you to celebrate not make money out of a celebration. Give how ever much you can afford, I know we received several vouchers for the baby shop here when our bub was born. Not everyone can afford to set up bub straight away. And honestly how many of us have received presents for our bubs that are useless.

Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned but I always thought that it you have a baby shower, engagement party, wedding etc that gifts were a bonus if received not expected or dictated what to buy and how much to spend. Op give no more than you are comfortable with/can afford she should be fretful for any gifts no matter what the amount
