Had you told them your name? It's a little upsetting isn't it! If you love the name I would still use it anyway. You shouldnt have to change your choice because they stole it.

I'm torn between thinking it's right to choose another name and thinking back to how much we loved dd's name..
Depends how close you are... of you don't have anything to do with them, call him Zane

Definetely no stealing of names going on. We don't see them often but I do chat with his sister alot on facebook and see his parents a few times a year. If we had 6 mths to go etc I would change but as its so close...

If you love it, use it! We have lots of people with the same names in our family, it's not an issue.

Keep it. Lots of people in the world have the same name.

Might feel weird to start with, but fingers crossed they (and you :P ) are all mature adults who will be able to deal with it

Use it! I have the same name as my cousin and my brother also shares his name with a cousin, not a big deal. Good luck for your birth!!

Why can't you both have Zane?

We have two Lisa's and two Patricks among our cousins. And we have my Oliver and Olivia who were only born 4 days apart.

They all think it's kind of cool. And they spend the majority of the time with people who AREN'T their cousins, so it doesn't really make any difference at all.

I'd chat to your cousin about it and use the name anyway

Doesn't matter who used it "first" or the fact there are two in the family, your kids will both be unique and may even form a special bond by having the same name!

if it were me i would just use it or turn it around to Pieter Zane depending on how attached i was to the Zane being a first name, but could always called them by their middle name anyways even if using the Pieter as first name.
