He did not say that. That is a misquote.

From Julia's mouth - "but what if men are by physiology or temperament more adapted to exercise authority or to issue commands?"

He did not say that women aren't physically equipped to do such a thing.

Of course that's what he is saying that men, by design are better at leadership and authority. Which is sexist and downright ridiculous. I'm confused how it can be construed any other way?

Insert the word white where man is, and aboriginal/black/chinese where woman is, and that's racist... so how it is not sexist?

In some situations they are. Just as in some situations women are better suited.
He DID NOT say, that women "can't" as your misquote suggests that he did.

But he didn't say in some situations he was posing that question that men are better at leadership full stop or he would have said 'in some circumstances'. Yes some are, but that comes down to personality and strengths as opposed to gender.

If you don't find him offensive that's ok, but I do.

Do you have the rest of that conversation to put it into context? I would suggest that this is exactly what he meant.

And yes, you do have the right to be offended. But, you cannot claim that this one statement (it was actually a question) highlights that he "hates women". Especially, if you have not heard the question in context.

Do you honestly think that he "hates women"?

Father - perhaps you don't find his comments offensive, because you are not a woman!? Just sayin'.......that's all

You may well be right. But I do find it offensive to unjustifiably label someone a misogynist.

I have now watch the entire speech.
It was quite well delivered, but I think it was wrong of her to support the Speaker with his more obvious sexism. It cried of hypocrisy and double standards. I think it showed a lack of judgement. This was made even more clear by Slipper himself agreeing with Abbott's arguments and standing himself down. Well delivered. But she got it wrong. Very wrong.

Days when Julia and Tony got along. I don't think she thought he was 'misogynist' then!

Julia should have sacked and not backed slipper.

She showed true balls in her speech to Abbot.

Sure Abbot is old fashioned but he's not that dangerous...sure he comes out with some gaffes but thats because he's a buffoon.
