Default Julia Gillard calls Abbott for his sexist views/comments

I am not always team Julia (but I am never team Tony) but I did enjoy Julia Gillard speaking at length in parliament about his views on women.

I can't help but think that it must have been hard for Julie Bishop to keep her poker face sitting behind Tony Abbott, especially after he has publicly referred to her in terms such as a *good girl*.

Link to the video - it is long.

I watched this last night and was bouncing around the room I was so excited!

SO happy the PM called him out on all his sexist, misogynistic b*llsh*t!

Same here! I'm also loving the reaction it's getting around the world.

This is me too. It's about time. So many of his views are abhorrent particularly coming from a man with daughters let alone a leader of the opposition.

I think that he has daughters is the thing that confounds me the most. Does he actually think that his daughters are not as well equipped to pursue their chosen career as a male is? Does he communicate this to them directly? Does he think they are not going to pick up on all of his comments in the media?

Brilliant speech. Was so proud of Julia, just such an excellent speech.

I didn't jump around the room, but certainly would have been Tom Cruise style lounge cheering if I was over this bronchitis thing!

I did shed a tear. Could she be any more spot on? Go Julia for calling the dinosaur on his hipocracy and ******** views. Keep up the good work.

This is a man with a gay sister, who refuses to support gay marriage. So no, I'm not surprised that he probably doesn't think his daughters are on par with men.

I agree. I also remember he opposed the introduction of the vaccine for cervical cancer which might be a fine view to hold privately but not as minister for health. Thank god he was overruled on that one. Seriously, the man is just appalling. My father holds onto a lot of out dated views but he's not in a position to influence policy decisions in this country!

I wish Gillard would back this. I would so be behind her if she did. It amazes me in the 21st century this is STILL not legal.

He called her a 'loyal girl' which is so much worse! I actually wish that Julia had referred to that quote as well, it really demonstrates his ideology towards women.

Julie Bishop is so clueless she probably didn't have any problem with being referred to this way.
