who would you choose as godparents

who do you think should be the god parents.

i dont like having family as a godparent but people are pushing for my dp's sister and brother to be them.
we have two best friends at the moment and we are happy with that

Don't be bullied into choosing certain people if you don't want to.

Me and DP would definately chose my mum and dad. Jordan loves them both dearly and although we don't praise having favourites they are by far. DPs brother has always dropped hints about him getting Jords but it would never happen (we don't tell him this though).

We are sure he'd prefer his pop over us anyday

Chose who you feel comfortable. Its got to be someone willing and who you feel would do the best job and only you will know this.

i chose my sister and her fiancee and also a family friend who is like a sister and her partner.

MJ has 2 sets of Godparents/Guardians. We have the set DH & I wanted & then the set to keep the families happy

Our set is my 16yr old nephew & DH's best friend (female)

The keep the family happy set is my eldest sister & DH's brother

Isn't the idea of godparents to ensure your children are raised as Christians?
Pick who you think would fulfil that role the best.

We only chose family - both my sisters and DH's sister. My sisters' children also only have their aunties and uncles as godparents - IMHO better to have family as you may grow apart from friends one day. Then again we also have this belief for wedding attendants - too many times when you look at wedding photos you ask "oh who was your bridesmaid / groomsman?" only to be told someone that they no longer see. My sisters both had friends of my parents as their godparents and they both haven't seen these people in at least 15yrs - my parents are my godparents as are DH's parents his godparents as well.
