Default Aptimal AR caused constipation need help with introducing thickner to standard Karica

My 9 week old has reflux and is a happy chucker. We put him on Aptimal AR which worked an absolute treat and he has been on it for 5 days now, however he has become extremerly constipated. I was advised by Karicare to change him back to the Karicare from Birth as the Whey will provide soft poos better than the AR which is a carine (spelling) dominant formula and to just add the aptimal thickner.
So my question is, to change him back to Karicare from birth as of tomorrow morning should i straight away add the thickner? Or should i put him straight on Karicare and add the thickner once his consitpation has cleared?

I agree with Missie Mack, I wouldn't bother with the thickner.
DD4 has reflux and couldn't tolerate the AR or thickner so we just use Karicare Goat formula. She still vomits a lot but it doesn't bother her..
