Default How do you know if you are leaking amnio fluid?

Recently i have noticed that my underwear sometimes gets a bit wet, just a little, as if i've gone to the toilet and put my undie on without drying myself first. I know its not pee. The color is clear. Its not discharge either because its like a watery texture. Its not constant, just randomly through out the day. Could i be leaking amnio fluid? I am 39weeks pregnant.

TMI but does it smell like semen? Its a possibility given youre 39 weeks and a lot of the time your waters have that semen type smell

Maybe go and get it checked out.

My DD2 was born via elective c-section at 38+2; whilst stitching me up, the ob has asked me if my waters had broken or if I had been leaking? I was like, um no, if I was I would have gone to the hospital immediately... I asked him, why? He said, that I was bone dry and that there was absolutely no fluid at all! Total freak out! Bub was totally fine, we just had to monitor or urine output for the first 48 hours.

Now, to this day (13 months later), the only thing I can link this back to is that I do recall going to the toilet to wee, like literally every 15 minutes for the last 2 weeks or so of my pregnancy, not really thinking anything of it (duh, all heavily pregnant women pee a million times a day)! All I can think is that I was very slowly leaking and that maybe some of those 'wees' weren't in fact wees?!

Scary, but thankfully a happy ending!

Hmm I would probably just ring your hospital anyway and ask their opinion. No harm in asking just in case. If you didnt want to call them I would just moniter it for the next couple of hours to see if it eases or leaks more, Good luck

OMG, I really hope I am not leaking! I just called the hospital and explained to them in detail. They said that at this stage of pregnancy I could be leaking, but its also normal to have discharge and make me feel wet, so they just suggested to put on a liner and see if it gets wet
Not very happy with their answer but I guess they know what they are talking about?
