I was going to update yesterday but we are still a bit in the dark as far as what's going on. The EPAS sent us for a blood test, she said that my hcg is still quite high but that doesn't mean much if we don't know what its doing. My next blood test is tomorrow (so 48 hours in between) so that will tell us more. I'm also booked in for an ultrasound tomorrow as that's the earliest they could fit me in.

The midwife I spoke to at EPAS said she doesn't consider my case to be urgent as I still have only light spotting and no pain, plus with my hcg levels being so high she said she is "not convinced" that I'm miscarrying.

I have also been advised to take some time off work until they know for sure what's happening because if I was to have a miscarriage its not idea for it to happen at work, plus with my job I'm on my feet all day and there is a fair bit of lifting involved.

Problem is, I don't know what to tell them when I call to ask for the rest of the week off we haven't told anyone that we are pregnant yet, and I don't know if I trust my boss to keep her mouth shut. But I can't ask for time off and not say why either...

Yep, I'd just say its a personal health issue and if she does push it, you just say its private and your not comfortable talking about it.

Ah well so much for that. As soon as I tried to tell her I needed time off I started crying like an idiot and I ended up just telling her the truth. I probably should have given her more credit, she was actually really good about it. I was only going to ask her for the rest of this week off but she told me to take next week as well and to give her a call next week and let her know what's happening.

Thinking about it now I probably should have argued about having next week as well, because if we find out that there's nothing wrong then there's no reason why I can't go back to work. We're having an ultrasound and another blood test tomorrow so either tomorrow or the next day we will know.

I also suspect that with all my stupid blubbering she might have gotten the impression that I'm already miscarrying so if everything does turn out to be ok I hope she doesn't think I was just putting it on...

    We have a heart beat!

The doctor said that he thinks he can see where the bleeding came from and it looks like its just caused by the fetus burrowing into the uterus and displacing things a bit. He said it might happen again and I should still go get checked out if it does but its probably nothing to worry about.

Heart rate was 109bpm which I thought seemed low but he said its within the normal range so that's good. He's measuring 6+3 (6+1 by my dates) and 0.61cm long

I won't get the blood test results back until tomorrow, hopefully they will show rising hcg to confirm everything's fine, but I'm feeling very relieved right now
