    Default Preterm labour @25wks.

    Good Morning,

I went into early labour on Tuesday at 24wks 5 days.. I didn't realise my 'tightings' and cramps were NOT braxton hicks.

I went to the hospital on Thursday and I came up positive for Fetal Fibronection - and they said that means bub could come at anytime.

My cervix is still closed and long (but shorter than my scan 8 days ago)

I have had steriods and pink tablets (Nifedipine) and was in hospital for 3 days.

I am home now, but wondering what are the chances of it happening again?

My baby is measuring nearly 4wks ahead, and I have been told I have Polyhydramnios (extra amnotic fluid around him)

    Thanks!

Anyone been in the same situation??

    Hi Op
Yep I had this happen to me at 29 +5 weeks with my first, also due to polyhydraminos. I was given the same treatment as you, with the steroids and nifidepine (pink tablets) and I managed to hold on for 3 weeks til bubs was born. I was also measuring ahead by 4-5 weeks but my membranes had also ruptured giving me an infection which triggered premature labour (I was then on bed rest for the 3 weeks). I really hope you can get a few more weeks in and have heard of people getting up to 6 weeks further with bed rest. My fetal fibronectin was positive as well, and I had to have regular ctg monitoring. Was there a reason they discharged you, I had to stay in hospital all that time and be monitored. Wishing you all the best

Thank you for your reply, I was discharged as my cervix was still closed and long (tho shorter than my ultrasound 8 days earlier), and my contractions had stopped with the medication.
