Default day 2 or day 5(blastocyst)

Does anyone know the difference between having a day 2 ET/Fz and day 5? I was at one clinic. Had 15 eggs collected, 10 fert. Day 2 ET and 5 embryos frozen. I had to come back for 5 different thaw cycles. All unsuccessful. I changed clinics. Here they do mainly day 5 ET's. I asked my FS what the difference is. He said it helps them select the better quality embryos to transfer and freeze. He said therefore helps patients get pregnant quicker because they are not 'wasting' their time with poor quality embryos. Is this right? If so, why did the other clinic not do this? I feel like I've completely wasted a lot of time and heaps of money with embryos that never had a chance.

At the end of the day both can get you pregnant, terrible quality embryos have resulted in babies.

In my experience when I had 18 embryos 2 Stims ago we had 5 blastocysts at he end, lot really didn't do well after day 4. My last stim same embryos we have 14 frozen blastocysts, dh sperm is no longer an issue which is the reason we have better numbers, the theory I believe is embryos that dont grow well after day 3 is speem issue which was the case for us

Thanks for all your help. I guess i just feel that if I was a bit mislead at my first clinic. From what I understand day 5 doesn't increase your chances per embryo, but it does helps you get there quicker. This would also mean cheaper, as you're not wasting time with embryos that never had a chance. Thaw cycles are so expensive, and I've had heaps! with embryos that they could have worked out were crap and had no potential. so annoying. They should call us customers instead of patients.
