    Default When white becomes yellow...

My white GK and the polar fleece inners of my new-style Peapods are yellowing!! How can I get them all dazzlng and white again? It's not like we're supplied with dam water to wash in! I wash in hot water after a cold pre-rinse, with half the recommended amount of detergent.. Any ideas??

Hmm how strange Is it the whole inside of the nappy yellowing or just patches from the urine? My only suggestion would be to hang out in the sun and see if that lightens it up a bit!

I'd did a bit of a search and came up with a couple of things. It's to do with yellowing of clothes and they suggest napisan, bleach, etc, all things not to use of fitted nappies
But something they all said is either not enough or too much detergent is being used, or the water temperature could be too low.

    That's all I could find

    Thanks guys
My next wash will contain a smidgen more detergent and I'm actually going to pay more attention to how much I throw in there from now on . I think sometimes I mightn't put enough in..
I'll leave them to bake on the line for a whole day too.

Do some people add vinegar/bicarb to the rince cycle? What does it acheive and would it help whiten my nappies?

I am incredibly cheap when it comes to detergent and only use a 1/4 scoop per load and always cold wash and never have had yellowing nappies - definately interested to know if it fixes the problem though!

Yes they do add the vinegar and bi-carb though it is really just used as a softener and isn't recommended to be used with PUL.

Well, with a medium load (I don't have many nappies yet) a normal amount with this particular brand is 1/2 a scoop. So I usually guesstimate 1/4 scoop.
Maybe I was already using the right amount (certainly don't need more at least)- I might just have to bake them in the sun and hope that whitens them...

Interestingly, the microsuede on the GK's is fine (although the outer is looking a bit eww). It's mainly the cheaper-looking polar fleece inner of the Peapods that is yellowing. Should I 'strip' the fleece and see if that works?
