    Default funding for cooling?

Hi guys. Does anyone know of funding in QLD that could allow us to get aircon for DD? She doesnt handle the heat (medically because of a heart condition plus autism) and its a really tough few months over summer.

Hi, sorry my reply is of no real help, but have you an Autism advisor? I'm in Victoria, not sure if QLD is the same but I have an Autism advisor, thats where I'd start. I'm wondering if you can use funding for a special, autism related diet, as the foods are quite expensive. I will be asking me advisor about that.

Yes, there is a heating and cooling rebate - not sure of the eligibility.

    Linky link

Hmm, not sure if it helps with installation or just running costs

From an OT point of view the only things I am aware of are grants through places such as mass or dsq.

I know you asked your question some time ago - and you were actually after funding but the following can help.
    1. Put up wet sheets at the windows - this creates a moist breeze
    2. Put bags of ice or ice you freeze at home in a big dish in front of a fan this creates a home made air con - I use it
    3. If she can tolerate it - let her wet her cloths either with your help, under the shower (autistic and neuro kids think this is fun) going around in the heat the clothes quickly dry out while keeping her cool in the meantime
    4. Get her to put iced towels on her shoulders (of course if she can tolerate it.

My Sweet Boy - I would be really interested to know who your 'advisor' is? Or, specifically where you acquired your advisor - e.g. someone operating as an autism advocate, a registered medical doctor, a registered teacher - the foods are extremely expensive and the Centre for Disease Studies in the USA (and all of the universities who study this) clearly identify that there is no conclusive evidence that the very expensive foods and supplements make any difference.
