Hello,

We are supposed to be attending an information seminar, but just wondering if anyone out there has first hand experience in adopting within Australia.

We are not looking for a baby, but hopefully a child (girl would be preferable, as I have 2 young boys at home) in the 2 to 5 year old age range.

I have a big family, (6 kids) but most are grown, I have 3 and 6 year old boys at home. I am still under 40 and would like a daughter to raise. My husband and I are on the same page, but I was just wondering what the criteria is for adoption, and if we are more likely to find a child rather than a baby in need of a family. I am not opposed to overseas adoption but it would just be too expensive for us.

Does anyone have information or advice? If you have adopted within Australia I'd love to hear from you. I have no idea what to expect, if we even stand a chance (since I have had my own biological children; but I had a hysterectomy with the last child and I am unable to have more)

Thanks in advance!

Elizabeth
