    Default Official autism diagnosis

    Hi all ,

After almost a year of stressing over my sons development and many many threads started on here my son officially got diagnosed yesterday with autism.

Wanted to update the heap of people that sent me pm's, replied to my numerous threads when I felt so stressed , and just showed lots of care and support , it's so much appreciated.

I haven't been on BH much due to the app gone but I'll hop on over the weekend and reply to my pm's.

    Xxoo

Hi Kitty. How are you feeling with the formal diagnosis? I know when my child got it, most of it was feeling relief but that was because I was expecting it. PM me if you need to chat. Has anyone had a chat to you about claiming carers allowance and helping children with autism funding? The good news is there is a lot of help available for you now. Am happy to share what I am working on with my son when you are ready

It really hits you when they finally get the dx doesn't it. Even though I'd suspected Aspergers since no joke, A few months after my son was born, it was still upsetting when the dx was made.

I'm sorry kitty, there is that tiny thread of hope you cling to even when you know yourself that it's most likely autism . Take a break for a week , try to do something nice for yourself. When I say take a break I mean a mental one . try to avoid goggle and searching for info for a week. Give your brain time to process what's happened . He has autism but he is the same little guy and the future maybe very promising for him you don't know yet .
have a good cry , and if you ever want to chat I'm here for you. I'm not all positive and refusing to see it as it is..... I had a good cry the other day over my son , but he is progressing well and is happy it's just the autism thing can overwhelm you if you let it.

As Temple grandin says " I'm different not less" in her movie and that's right. they saying banded around autism sites, " not a disability but a different ability " also rings true in our house.

Good luck. Look after yourself and give that boy a squeeze from us all on here xxxxx sounds like he has a wonderful mummy .

Thanks all xxoo Happy2b3 and itwasntme- as for how I'm coping well I didn have even an inkling of doubt in my mind , after getting the official diagnosis I walked out of the appointment quite numb , didn't really say anything to anyone and got on with my day as normal , yet this morning I have woke up feeling so anxious and sick in my stomach and it hasn't left . My mind is swirling with worries and concerns for he's future . So on one hand I feel relief that it's finally over and my worried have been confirmed but on the other hand im just heartbroken . She gave me all the forms and paperwork required for carers allowance and autism funding . Itwasnt me - I'd love to hear from you by pm about how your utilizing your funding. Thx again girls xxoo
