    Default Antenatal appointments

    Hi all,
This is my 3rd pregnancy but first here in Australia and I'm finding it all so different to how things are done in NZ, anyway my question is, is it normal to not have an appointment between 15 and 24 weeks? I had a dr appointment at the hospital at 15 weeks and now nothing until 24 weeks which I am now, yet they never booked me in till 25 weeks and I have now had to cancel it as they scheduled it to 7pm, when it was there stuff up to start with, I'm planning on seeing my GP to put my mind at ease a little, but I'm starting to feel like I'm going to end up completely lost in the system

Ive seen my OB at least every 4 weeks since my first appointment where I was 8 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure whats normal or not, and I'm also 38 so high risk which may also be why I see the OB so often. Im also private, not sure if thats different to going public or not.

    How strange :S

They usually seem to start at about 12 weeks, and are every 4 weeks until about 34 weeks (depending on who you're seeing, whether you have any risk factors etc.).
So 12, 16, 20, 24... This is roughly what I've had, and what most other low risk women I've known/heard of have had - regardless of whether it's at a hospital, with visiting midwives, shared care etc.

My first appointment was 16 weeks but was counted as my 20 week appointment and so my next one isn't meant to be until 25 weeks but it will be at 24 due to my last being early. From memory it then goes 30, 33, 36, 38, 40, 41. But that's just from memory and am not home so can't check

Maybe they have you down for shared care with a gp. But I do remember it being a fair gap between my gp visits in he beginning. If you are worried just call them and check. Or go see your gp for a checkup.

Thanks ladies, I'm not on shared care, going through hospital have tried ringing but got absolutely no where with them, I've decided I'm just going to go see my GP for now, just hope the hospital is a little more helpful when it comes to delivery time
