Default Breastfeeding a newborn and toddler at the same time

I have a question, really just out of self interest. When people have babies close in age, and they continue to breastfeed the toddler while also feeding the newborn, how are both of their nutritional needs met? Everything I read says babies of different ages have different nutritional requirements so how are they met?

    Just curious to know :-)

Your body will produce what is needed more for the new baby and the older one just gets to go along for the ride

I always wondered about the colostrum too, will the toddler be drinking colostrum or will moms body not make it because it's catering for toddler?

To above poster - you still get colostrum (but more of it)
