What ever happened to just calling your pets after your favourite movie, band, tv show, colour, country, food, car or whatever other ridiculous thing people now impart on children?

    I like it .
My DS was Dade Landon for 23ish weeks of the pregnancy.

We had Archer Joseph for my first pregnancy.

We also love Orion, Merlin, Asher & I adore Hunter & Sean.

I *think* our next will be Ronan though as we can't agree on the others anymore (although I love Dade Landon again)

A boy in my son's prep class is called Anakin. I've never been game enough to ask his parents whether it is a Star Wars reference or not

^ Someone who used to be a Bubhub moderator had a son called Anakin. And yes it was a Star Wars thing.

I wouldn't class Odin as a pop culture name. Norse mythology has been around long before anything classed as pop culture!

We've kind of done this. Our dog is named Raafy, because DH is Army, and I was Navy so now we have a RAAF-y as well.
Then we have a Sam or Samuel who is named after Sam from the Lord of the Rings. I wanted Samwise but DH said no so that was our compromise.
Then we have an Elizabeth named after Queen Elizabeth I because I really love the show the Tudors, the movie Elizabeth, bit of a history nut.
