We rent but own a $40 000 car....that's bogan right? It's a long story...we wouldn't ordinarily.spend that on a car when we don't own a house. We have downlights and one is hanging out from the ceiling.I wear gym brand clothing as casual wear sometimes. In summer I live in thongs (but I live in a beach town too so I don't know if that counts).I even it out by not owning a coffee table though

Wow. 20-30 years ago the definition of bogan/bevan/westie was quite rigid.
    - Flannelette shirts
    - panel vans, utes
    - fluffy dice from rear-view mirror
    - ugg boots
    - smoked winfield/peter jackson and pack was shoved up the sleeve
    - summer attire was stubbies shorts and thongs
    - haircut of choice was a mullet
    - female names often ended "ene" (eg, raylene, sharlene)

It seems now that bogan is the new black.

Sounds like a bogan is what would be known as "a bit common" or "aspirational middle class" in England.

A bit like all dressed up and looking posh then they open their mouth to reveal a strong east London accent or a strong Northern accent. (I lived in Yorkshire for 7 years.)

I wear ed hardy & dress my kids in it as well
DH & i have lots of tatts including each other's names
DH pees off the balcony onto the grass (we live rural)
We both drink beer out of a stubby holder
    We have bonfires
    We have an outside toilet
DH races motor x & i tag along on comp days to buy fox brand gear
    I just said gear
I love animal print, ugg boots & flannies
There are downlights in our house
Our camper/fold out chairs have cooler holders in them
