    Nah, we have enough in savings to cover an emergency/crisis like that, and we have life insurance which would come through also.

    I'm really suss about funeral funds. I don't know why, there is just something about them.

    Same. They prey on people's fears. The market is saturated with insurances we don't need, it's sickening how companies exploit through fear based marketing.

    No, the kids are getting the house they can pay for the funeral .
    Reality is they gross me out too. my parents have paid for their plot, funeral the lot. Was told all i have to do is ring white ladies and they organise everything..pheww

    Same I'd rather have the savings for what ever emergency rather than giving that money to an insurance company... you'll probably have to jump through hoops to get your money...

    So am I. My Nan had one and passed away from cancer. It was all very sudden. Apparently terminal illness in the first 24 months isn't covered. My Mum had to take out a $6000 loan to pay for the funeral.

    OP do you have life insurance? IMO that is a necessity with young kids. And I believe some (if not most) of them do an advance payment to help with funeral costs.
