    Default Stretch and sweep/Membrane sweep

    Hi all

I am 40 weeks and either 3 or 5 days pregnant with my second.
I had a sweep today and was told my cervix is not very dilated, maybe a cm.
I've never had one of these before. Does anyone know what I should do to maximize the effect?I'm bleeding lightly and I'm having irregular contractions/pains mainly lower in my abdomen. The whole tummy goes tight and the pain radiates up and sort of towards my back.

Sounds promising!! Have you got an exercise ball that you can sit and bounce on? Otherwise go for a walk and maybe even some loving action when DH gets home

Keep your fluids up as labour will halt if youre dehydrated - almost like it says your not ready for the long night ahead if youre dehydrated.

    Good luck!

Thanks I wasn't sure if it was ok to DTD

I forgot to add, baby is posterior again too (little so and so has turned!) so I did 30 mins of weeding on my hands and knees... Hope that was enough to flip her around!

Might hop back on the fitball

I was told the same at 40+4 days after a sweep. My dr said you likely won't go into labor on your own again and that I will be induced at 41+3 .
instead I went into labor that night and my DS was born at 40+5 :-)

My midwife suggested sex/orgasms. I had a stretch and sweep at 4pm and 3 orgasms over the evening. Went into labour at 11pm Good luck!

i had my s and s at 38+6 (cervix was very favourable) 2nd bub.

Nothing happened that day, but the next day i lost my plug (i think)

That night, i bounced on fit ball (while eating lots of chocolate lol), had a shower and did nip ple stimulation for 10-15 minutes.

next morning, that would have been 8am ish... i went into labour at 1130 and bub was born around 3 ish...

when my midwife did the sweep, DTD was strongly encouraged LOL... the hormones are great for helping to prepare teh cervix.

Good luck ps. they did book in a 2nd sweep for 5 days after the1st if it hadn't have been successful ( i had a vbac)
