Maybe I'll just explain to Mum that although she's awesome her names suck massive ones.

What is your mum's first name? Maybe you could ask her to choose the middle name as a gift to her. That would be instead of Katherine. The name that your mum chooses could be anything she likes. Then you could tell your child their grandmother chose their middle name. I think that is pretty cool

It was more so my horror at it being suggested than thinking you would actually consider it

My DP has 3(!) middle names!!! No joke. His stepfather adopted him and his mother, instead of just replacing the surnames, made it a middle name! Its an absolute nightmare filling out forms for him. But his DD has 2 middle names. I don't see too much problem with Lee being a second middle name. Its short and sweet

    Default 2 middle names?

My daughter has 2 middle names (both named after family) and my son only has one, which is after DH's paternal grandfather. This baby is a girl and will only have one, although I have contemplated using 2, was going to choose one of them after friends of mine who died from cancer, but one of the names is reallllly, realllly bogan and neither suit. I think I am just going to leave it at one middle name, which is DH's paternal grandmother. He was really close to his dad's parents.

I have 2 middle names and I hate it!!!

It doesn't fit on forms, and doesn't even fit properly on my uni degrees. Also I have ridiculous proof of ID issues whenever I do something official, buy property etc - because your passport has both middle names but your drivers license will only let you have one!!

    Don't do it!!!

I wish I could drop one of my middle names but they are the names of my grandmothers so I can't do that without majorly upsetting one of my parents.
