    Default For arguments sake...

For us it would also depend on if we were relying on the grandparent to help with babysitting, ie if me & DP wanted some "alone time", then as a thank you for looking after our child during those times i'd be inclined to offer to pay all the accommodation....

I would pay for the whole trip and not expect my parent to pay anything

The 2 bedroom apartment, assuming the grandparent in one room and you, your partner and child sharing a room, then that would be halves. With the car, that should be thirds.

How is it being split Op??

Thanks all, if we could afford it we would pay for it all. Haha unfortunately we are quite broke.

We would pay for all of it. Usually the parent(s) would offer to pay for dinner. This is definitely not expected by us, just what they like to do.

If the parent was coming for purpose of babysitting then I would pay for the whole thing

If you are all just holidaying together then 3rds between adults so you and DH pay 2/3 rds and the parent 1/3rd

So for case of $1000 - $330 (I would round down for parent) and $670 for you and DH

What do you think is fair OP?
