    Default Abnormal pap smear results

Has anyone on here had this but have had no further problems come from it?

I had a pap smear last week. The dr just gave me a call and asked me to come in this afternoon. My pap smear results were abnormal. I don't know the severity of it yet. But I've had a solid lump on my cervix for about a year, that drs have dismissed as a cyst.

I'm completely freaking out. Can't stop shaking, crying and thinking the worst.

    I'm so scared.

if you have reg smears, you should be fine.

with me, they retested and when still abnormal i had loop diathermy and a biopsy done...after that, 6 month smears for 2 years, now yearly.

12 years ago...no complications at all.

most of my female friends have had abnormal smears (at least 8 i know of) and only 1 had cancer.

    hugs, it is scary though

Yes. happened only a couple of months ago. I got called back to the doctor then I was sent to the hospital for some kind of internal test. I was freaking out. because it was the first time i had an 'adnormal' result i didnt actually have to have it. I just have to have my pap smear yearly to see which way the results go.

My mum had the same. She had the extra test because of her age (her first abnormal result) but all was good.

    Default Abnormal pap smear results

Thank you so much for your quick replies. I feel a little bit calmer about it now, although I still can't stop shaking

I suppose there is no point stressing about it until I talk to the dr and find out more. My appointment is in 40 mins. I did a google search and freaked myself out. Think I will go have a hot shower to try and distract myself.

I've had an abnormal one and had to be retested which then came back clear.

Thinking of you and hope all is ok!

    Default Abnormal pap smear results

I had an abnormal one at 16 years old. I was terrified. It was cin2 which I think means category 2 out of 3 for pre-cancerous cells. I had the lletz procedure done under GA and besides bleeding like AF for a few weeks afterward it was all fine. No pain or anything. I had to have 6 monthly smears for 2 years afterward but everything has been clear since.

Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. This is why we have the horrible things done, so we can find out early and keep things under control
Update us once you have seen your doc.

I've had carcinoma in situ which was removed with a cone biopsy. I have yearly pap smears which have all come back clear since 2005. I hope your appointment goes well and it's nothing too serious.
