Arrhh stupid phone.....however you would think that an adult could control their emotions enough to not be huffing, piffing, slamming things and rolling eyes. She's at work, not home, a bit of professionalism is usually.a work place requirement isn't it?

I dunno, think she probably had a dodgy day and your kids made it worse. Meh. I have bad days. Nobody ever says, "Well, if you're not going to be happy when your child takes off her shoes and tips sand over the floor at age 7, you shouldn't have become a mother!"

She might be FABULOUS every other day in the cafe... you might have got her on the day she learnt her boyfriend was cheating on her, she was failing uni, her landlord is selling the house she's living in, etc etc. Or she could have just woken up in a foul mood for whatever reason... it happens occasionally.

I'd think, "What a b*tch," say it to the friends I was lunching with, and move on. Certainly not something to dwell on or be so bothered by you need to post about it.

    Default Re: How rude!!!

I don't really care that the OP vented about her experience. What I couldn't can't stand was all the moral outrage and hand wringing that followed "complain", "she should lose her job", "she shouldn't work in customer service if she can't stand it"...

Most people have to do sh*t they don't want to do to survive in this world. People don't waitress because its their life's calling. I'm sure she would rather be hanging with her kids/friends/family like the OP was. She was having a bad day...The End.

    Default How rude!!!

For a parenting website this is all very childish!

I'm sure the op has had her rant. Doesn't anyone have meals to prepare for their husbands or ironing to do? :-p

There is a difference between being not being bubbly and friendly and being down and out rude.

And I don't believe it is the same as any other stranger we interact with, we go to cafes for the customer service, last I checked no one would be happy parting with money to be treated like dirt. Of course everyone has bad days, but there are better ways to deal with them than get angry about spilt sugar.

Yes, I agree that common courtesy should have nothing to do with whether you are a paying customer or in the 'service industry'. It is no worse for a waitress to not be all bubbly and friendly than it is for any other stranger that you have to interact with.

I love how people then deem to tell others what they should and shouldn't be venting about. God, half the stuff that is posted on BH is stupid, so don't read it and don't reply to the thread talking about how stupid the thread is. Why would you even bother if you think the thread is stupid?

Yeah I'm feeling pretty happy with where I live right now because waitresses are generally friendly and that is the norm. I'd probably vent about an experience like that on fb...but I do have a life. Today my life is so great.I'm cleaning out spew buckets...whilst giving my sick child a sympathetic smile and telling her she'll feel better soon.

...pffft! -- can't adults get together without the need for coffee??!!

This thread is the perfect example of the dangers of mixing coffee and children
