We have a Vicks Vapouriser, we bought it because it was the only one we could find (apparently they were flying out the door). We love it

    We Have the hippo onehttp://www.getprice.com.au/Hippo-Del...--68796347.htm

We only use it when ds' sinusitis flares up. We have used a few different ones and you really have to air the room out when not in use.

We just have a Vicks one and love it. I even use it when DS2 is teething and it relaxes him enough to be able to sleep.

As far as I can tell, they do the same thing - keep the air moist. Vaporizers create steam whilst humidifiers create mist. So I'd go by the season. I think brands are much of a muchness too.
