    Default Layby help please :)

I'm expecting my first bubba in about 12 weeks and have spent the entire pregnancy getting on top of my outstanding debts. Actually quite proud to say they are all completely under control now!!

I will be paying off the remaining debt for probably another 6 months and don't have a credit card or anything either. I will be a single parent so want to budget my money as precisely as possible.

Could you tell me what stores, apart from big w, Kmart or target, that do layby? This is basically for my information when I need to get something for myself like clothing or shoes. (This should be a rare thing but I just want to know where to go when I need to).

    Thank you

I don't think I've ever been to a shop where you can't lay by something. We've lay by'd everything from clothes to computers to car parts without a problem.

Oh I didn't know that! I've layby'd maybe twice in my life so i have no idea!

Are you able to lay by something and then pay it via the phone till its paid? It's just I live in the country and don't get to the city very often!

I don't know, that may depend in the store. Would probably be best if you contact the store and ask - although in my experience, most places are pretty laid back about about the weekly/fortnightly payments as long you pay by or on the final date. I've put down a deposit, then paid the rest of it off the day it was due without a problem!

Yeah I think almost every shop would allow it. I can remember an old Woolies ad where they had bought in $1 lay-buy. I dare say as they are more food & less variety orientated since Woolworth variety became Big W that they probably don't any more.. But I still remember it.

Might not be much help but Big w offer online layby's now. Also there are those sites like mylayby.com. If you don't go to the city often they might be more ideal?
