    Default Help us save Queensland!!!

Done. I work in QLD health and as I'm permanent I think my job is safe, but I have a lot of friends who are worried and on tenter hooks thinking they could lose their jobs its so ridiculous because all hospitals and wards are so understaffed as it is, let alone this!!

Done. Good lord if these ******** are doing this to the workers state by state - imagine what they would do if they somehow got into federal power. Eek. Let's hope the job cuts that are happening Australia wide open everyone's eyes to the true colours of the Liberals.

Done. I am seriously horrified at just how far Campbell Newman is going with this. We need more in health, not less. It makes no sense at all.

I am horrified to point its making me feel sick/angry. It reminds me of 9/11, Bali Bombings, London Bombings, QLD floods (not comparing the devastation) but just the constant reading the papers/watching the news and seeing what else has happened in the last 10 minutes and the feeling of helplessness/hopelessness that we can't do anything to change it immediately. Even if the government was overthrown tomorrow, it still wouldn't take back all the hurt and trauma that people have been put through.

They should just cut the politicians' pay as opposed to jobs at QLD Health.

Having said this however, I have a lot of friends who work at QLD Health who have constantly said how easy it was to earn money by doing nothing! I'm kinda borderline on this issue...

The petition is regarding the cutbacks in preventative health (will save money now, but not in the years to come when these people need treatment for issues that could have been prevented) as well as the fact that the Newman Government said no front-line jobs would be affected.... and well they are.

Also this thread isn't about whether or not the cutbacks are warranted (there is other areas on the forum where this can be debated) but to simply make people aware that there is an online petition against these specific cutbacks that they can choose to sign and share with their friends if they want to

It's not here to debate the politics surrounding said issues.

I don't know about other hospitals or areas of QLD health, but I can tell you for a fact that nurses are run into the ground, ive had to look after a full children's ward with only one other nurse, and when you ask for help you are told its not available and to suck it up. For 12 hours you can't sit down to eat or barely have time to go to the loo. Yes, there are days where it is lovely and quiet, but I wouldn't say it's "easy money". Even our cleaners and wardsmen are understaffed and are constantly running around, it's only going to get worse for everyone now.
