With regard to giving dog something that smells of baby I have read the best to do is to bring home an item of clothing or blankie whilst I am in hospital and for hubby to call dog over calmly tell to sit then let dog sniff the item do not give it too them to do with as they please let them sniff then take away and put into baby room, continue to do this until baby comes home so they associate smell with room and so they know that baby is not their "toy" but is something they can approach calmly.
Also before baby comes along I am going to get hubby to come for walks with me and take the pram so she gets used to that and I can walk her and take baby also, without her being weird.
Meshell that is so precious! Yes - good plan about the blanket don't leave it with them - yep I'll do that. Also will be doing the 'mock walks' as we have 2 dogs and I want to be sure I'm in control of the 2 dogs and the pram whilst hubby isn't around - so will get him to come with - also we live on a main road so need to find a nice walking path in the backstreets

BABYGRO is the same thing as a GROWSUIT or a SLEEPSUIT - long arms and legs with or without in-built feet

BABYSUIT is the same thing as a BODYSUIT or VEST - no legs and can come either sleeveless, short sleeved or long sleeved

ROMPER SUIT is similar to a BABYSUIT but is generally for summer - with short sleeves and short legs

So this is what I think we are going to buy initially (research suggests buying in a couple of different sizes. I will probably buy 0000 and 000 to start.

    6 x BABYGROs (will probably use for bedtime only) (4 x 0000 & 2 x 000)
    6 x BABYSUITS (4 x 0000 & 2 x 000)
    4 x T-Shirts (4 x 000)
    2 x Leggings (2 x 000)
    2 x Cardigans (button up at the front) (2 x 000)
    6 x Socks (newborn)
1 x Mittens (newborn - will buy one pair only as I am looking at babygros and bodysuits that have folded down in built mittens)
    1 x Hat (newborn)
2 x Wide Brimmed Sun Hat (infant size just in case we go out and about)
8 Various Wraps / Cotton Blankets / Muslins
1 x (box of 12) Huggies 'Little Swimmers' Nappies as I'd like to take bubs to the pool before summer is over (Small size which is 7-12KG)
1 x (box of 108) Huggies Newborn Nappies (research suggests only buying one box and not in bulk)

I will buy everything above in neutral colours. Will also buy one boy and one girl specific special 'going home' outfits and take back the one we don't need.

Would love to get opinions and ideas on anything else : )
    thats an awesome list!!!!!
    Don't forget bibs/spew rags!!!!
I got a whole heap of the white old style cloth nappies from target and used those.
I would also get more wraps. You will have some on the baby, some over the top of baby and I used them to cover the pram, as little blankets in the car and you go through heaps. I would say minimum 10.
i know that sounds a lot, but you will use them and you don't want to run out!
Huggies newborn go up to 5kg's. Im starting with 2 boxes and also going to introduce cloth when my brain and body are able to!
oh, I would get more 000 clothes too.
sorry, don't mean to tell you what to do, but i just found Eli was in his 000 for ages! my other friends kid started in 000 and was in them for a bit too.
    You have done really well!
i don't have much yet! I still have to order my cot.. it takes 14 weeks.. better get onto that!

    Default IVF Babies Due Jan/Feb/Mar 2013 #3

Lol about the dog situation!!!!! We sure do spoil them don't we!!!! I have a very spoilt cocker spaniel who thinks he is a human most of the time I feel sorry for him because he is so emotional and when I'm not feeling sorry for him I feel irritated and annoyed by him!!!! He just isn't like other dogs. He just can't sit in the yard and laze about. He needs us to be within his sight at all times or freaks out and gets upset if we leave the house without him. It's quite embarrassing really. He will sit at the gate all day sulking until we get home and he will push his way into the car so "we don't leave him behind." he is very lovable though and very smart. My partner has just taught him how to shut the door after he opens it so as the air conditioning doesnt seep out lol. Understands everything you say and is verrerrrry affectionate which I don't really like lol. I think he will be jealous when baby comes.

As for the sleep thing I've had weird sleeping and awake times too.

Starting to plan my baby shower as I am sick of thinking about Xmas lol.

Just sitting here watching my tummy kicked to the maximum and every time I go to record to send to partner who works away the little ragbag stops kicking!!!! I swear this baby doesnt like me much lol. Loves my partner (mummy) ( I'm mama) and does everyything she demands lol as for me is very cheeky and uncooperative.

I am unmotivated - bad!! I can't be bothered to eat I can't be bothered to talk or watch tv I just want to go to sleep! I've decided on very easy pasta for dinner and was so much effort to put the water on lol!! My hubby's gone out to play a quick 9 holes of golf (better get it in now lol) and I reckon I'll be in bed when he gets home hehe. Also in a bad mood I think as the girl at my work who is due a month after me had her last day of work today - slightly jealous. Also stressing financially but sometimes I just need to sit back and think it all through - we are so blessed to have a little baby (kicking right now) and a roof over our head : )

That's one hell of a list you have there SL, beats my 'gee that's cute, might buy it' plan. I honestly am not sure how much of everything I have. The only thing I have really kept track of is nappies cause I am using MCN's. I will go through everything after the baby shower though and make sure I have enough of everything.

My 2 puppies are pretty much inside dogs whenever we are home, although we have sort of weaned them off being in during the day on the weekend, unless it's raining. Meshell, that's a very good point to not let them do what they want with the blanket, I hadn't even thought about that. SL - I have been thinking of doing practice runs to try and teach them to walk next to the pram but I am too worried I will look like a crazy lady walking them with nothing in the pram.

DH went to the dr's today cause he has a sore throat and I asked him to get the whooping cough injection whilst he was there. He decided to go to his stupid family GP that he went to when he was a kid, and who got his licence out of a weetbix packet, who proceeded to tell him that he couldn't have the whooping cough injection until after the baby was born and I had mine.
When DH got home I explained that I already had mine and unless he wanted to be banned from meeting his daughter for the first 2 weeks of her life then he had better book in with my GP, who will be our family GP, and have the damn injection. I mean seriously, it's not like the whooping cough vaccine can only exclusively be given to parents of new children.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL DH were JUST talking about his family GP who's he's been going to since he was born - I feel the same about him as you feel about your DH's family doctor haha! Very good point about the whooping cough injection - I'll have to check how long they last as I'm pretty sure both DH and I had one before we had the m/c in 2009. The books I'm reading say that any family member who will be close to the baby needs to have it - where do you draw the line??? We are going to have family and friends at the hospital constantly no doubt when bubs is born....

I told my DH about the 'mock' walking with dogs and pram this morning and he said it's bad luck (coming from a very superstitious Italian) lol! So he said we can go to walks together when baby is here until I feel confident to do it myself!

Yesterday I bought my car seat I got safety first sentinel newborn to 4yrs also bought a few other items I had just left the shop n my 21 yr old sister called n told me she bought me a love n care deluxe glider chair she knee I really wanted one but was waiting til after baby shower as my need for it was more luxury than necessity I asked her not to get it due to price but she did anyway. Love herLast night Hubby was poking my belly and baby was responding with kicking it Hubby thought it was awesome he said first fight with his son. Mind you I'm being poked n kicked to death
Haha thats so nice of your sister bless her. How exciting that you have your car seat - now you said it was from newborn - will you be using a capsule for the first few weeks / months before car seat or straight into car seat? My SIL is giving us her Safe N Sound Car Seat which can be used from newborn but our friends have offered to lend us their capsule which they said was awesome....so not sure....

I reckon that when I'm off work I will be cleaning night and day! I HATE having wood floors seriously they are so hard to keep clean and I hate that feeling if they're not clean and I walk around with bare feet and can feel the dust / dirt - yuk! I much prefer carpet - I guess all the yukky stuff is still there just well disguised and more comfy to walk on lol!
