    Default Clomid Support thread #12

Hi everyone, hoping I can join in here... I'm due to start clomid for the first time today. I am starting on 100mg and I'm a little anxious about possible side effects. I'm sure I will have a million questions about it but firstly I want to know if there is a recommended time of day to take clomid? And is it best taken with food? Any other tips/advice for a first timer would be most welcome.

I have my fingers crossed for you missy1000! Good luck!

Welcome maybee baybee and good luck with your first cycle of Clomid. This was my first month of Clomid too but I was only on 50mg. If my positive doesn't turn into anything then I'll be doing it all over again next month.

If you can it's recommended you take your Clomid at night. I was taking mine each night at 6pm when I got home from work. Taking it at night is supposed to lessen the side effects during the day.

Try not to read too many horror stories from other sites about Clomid either. I was quite nervous about taking it after reading other women's stories but I didn't find it as bad as some lead me to believe. My main side effects were hot flushes, a little nausea and some headaches but they were all quite manageable. Everyone is different of course but I think I had similar side effects to everyone else in this thread.

If you don't mind me asking is there any particular reason why you've been prescribed with Clomid?

    Default Clomid Support thread #12

Thanks for the reply missy1000, i appreciate the advice. I have been put on clomid as we have been TTC for 11mths. I have moderate endo and have had 2 laparoscopies, one as recent as July. I suffer immense pain with periods. I have been charting and appear not to O and have long cycles (32-37days). We saw a fs earlier this month and he prescribed clomid and ovidrel. We aren't using ovidrel this cycle only because dh will be away from cd20-24 so we will dtd every 2nd day from cd12 and hope for the best! Will have a blood test on cd21 but it's only testing for progesterone. Will this indicate if I have ovulated?

Yep I had a 21 day progesterone test too and it will tell you whether you have ovulated. I had mine last Tuesday but my results go to my local hospital and so I'm waiting a few days before I call for results. It can take them days if not well over a week to have the results in their system.

I really hope that Clomid can help you and I'm sorry to hear all of the problems that you've been experiencing. DH and I have been trying for 21 months so we're also well and truly over waiting.

I wish you all of the luck in the world

Those of you who had side effects on clomid, did they last the whole cycle? I've been feeling soooo unwell the last few days. 7dpo now so probably too early for morning sickness!

Thanks. I hope so too! Temp has gone way up today, and my coffee tastes gross, so fingers crossed!

    Hi there,

Thought I might join this thread. I'm just starting round 2 of clomid at 50mg (first 2 rounds on 25mg). Only 1 round worked in reducing my normally 49-ish day cycle down to 35 days and I'm definitely o-ing, so really hoping this cycle will do better.

Does anyone know if you should/shouldn't drink alcohol while on clomid? I avoid drinking in the 2ww (and not usually on a monday night!) but dh has just poured me a wine after a lousy day at work...

Hi all. Hoping to join in the chat. I am about to start my third cycle on Clomid. BTs show I 'ovulated well', but no luck. (that is actually written on the results. ) I'm on 100mg. I've been taking Elevit since December when I came off the pill, considering putting DH on the male equivalent. Has anyone else tried that or heard if its worth it? Also considering accupuncture. Kind of considering any extra assistance at this stage.
