Sophie - read your other post. Congratulations! How wonderful. Have you told your IM and how was the BT?

Marttc and Strawbs - keep us posted on how you're doing for the TWW. You know the Crinone monster is going to mess with your heads.

AFM - US today. AF finished yesterday so was a but worried but there's a nice follicle growing and lining is on track. Hoping to do FET on Monday. Because my FET cycles are all natural and I ovulate, DH and I still DTD as well as the FET just to improve our chances a bit. FS hasn't told us not to and given our issues I don't think we're at great risk of multiples. Burst into tears after the US because FS told me off for discussing assisted hatching with the FN before him. I was feeling a bit fragile so his timing was pretty poor. And lucky I did talk to the FN because he said they don't do it but the FN had already spoken with the lab for me and they said they would do it! He told me it was a waste of money. Now I feel really negative about this cycle. He makes me feel like its not worth trying anything different.

I'm just in pain mainly, so bloated it hurts to wee... Are you the same strawbs? Been a little off but just usual feelings with crinone!

Don't worry about your FS telling you off, you have every right & I disagree about the hatching, I've been in IVF threads for a while & I've seen people do this & get BFP - every case is different & if it makes you feel better then try it! I also DTD when they tell me ovulation is that day or the next - why not!

Thanks Marttc. I've only done 1 stim but found the bloating and discomfort lasted well into the second week after trigger. I found drinking lots of water actually helped. And I know what you mean by not being a doctor but don't you sometimes feel we know more than the supposed experts! I feel like I am having to do my own research or nothing will happen.

Marttc and Strawbs - how is the TWW going? Noticing every twinge and mood that happens I bet!

AFM - frustrating. AF going for 10 days seems to have caused problems. FS thought it would delay ovulation. Did OPKs last 2 mornings and got 2nd line on both but not a surge. Then this morning, nothing! So have I ovulated or am I not going to ovulate? I've gone in to have BT this morning to find out and another BT tomorrow. Might get results this afternoon. If I have o'd already this cycle will be a bust because clinic does 2 day transfers. I was soooo looking forward to this one because FS agreed to Assisted Hatching and also agreed to ET under anaesthetic. My last transfer was so painful I have been really anxious about it.

    Hi Girls,

I am just new to this, found out IVF/ICSI would be our best option last week so learning lots and doing lots of reading. If you don't mind me asking what is assisted hatching?

Keeki who is your FS? We are going through Monash IVF as that's where our FS uses. We are going to the IVF seminar tonight so hope to learn lots more then.

Glad there's this thread to refer / turn to... it's going to be a long road ahead.

    Good luck everyone

    xx

Welcome Jb. It's pretty daunting starting out but also feels great to be doing something. You'll get heaps of great advice and support on BH so keep in touch. Do you know when you start and what sort of cycle you're doing or are you still in the early stages of doing paperwork etc?

I am with MIVF. I'm probably going to get a second opinion from another FS as I haven't been very happy. Had to insist on the Assisted Hatching (AH) because FS thinks it doesn't work. But he just wants to keep doing the same thing and not try anything different and i feel like I'm wasting my money! I don't think Monash do AH. AH is where they make a small incision in the embryo shell just prior to transferring it. There is some evidence that it helps the embryo to hatch out and therefore implant. It is mainly successful where the embryo has a harder than usual shell which can be age related. It may also help because embryos only have a certain amount of energy and they can run out of energy before hatching is complete so the incision makes it easier and uses less energy.

Welcome JB2011 You will have a lot of support on this thread as most of us have had different experiences and cycle.

Kheeki - I am also with MIVF and changed Drs as I wasn't happy. I loved the Dr I had a fell pregnant on the 2nd transfer with him. He is very thorough and will tell you why / why not he recommends things. I can send you a PM with his details if you want to get a second opinion. The downside that he does charge some of his appointments.

Thanks keeki & pippi. We are just at the paperwork, blood test etc stage. Hoping to have everything done before we go to Hawaii in march and start our first cycle when we get back - cant wait for 3wks of relaxation... Definitely looking forward to it after the past couple of months and will be good to regroup before starting.

Went to the Monash seminar tonight, it was great - learnt a lot and answered lots of questions.

Thanks for your support and sharing this journey with me xx

Pippi01 - thanks for that I will PM you to get the details. I have a referral to Dr Elzeiny but would be interested to hear who you've been with.

Jb - very jealous of your holiday. I'll be heading over there in August. If you haven't been before word of advice. Take plenty of spending money because the shopping is unbelievable.

AFM - had US and BT. BT results not in yet but US all good. I haven't o'd yet but FS thinks I will in the next 2 days. Phew!! Lining well developed and good size follicle. Very relieved the cycle is still going ahead. OPK showed return of a darker line today so I'm thinking FET will be Tuesday.
