Default Do you think voting should not be compulsory?

I think that's why we need more education on voting and politics in general.

The thing about all this, is you don't vote for the person, you vote for the party. As we all know leaders can change at any time.

Bubbygirl - have a look at this link, you can type in a post code and it tells you if the people in your area support gay marriage or not. Keep in mind, Julia is *one* person - lots of Labour MPs support gay marriage, as lots of libs and independents and greens as party policy as well. It is only a matter of time before it is made legal and I feel it will be sooner rather than later, they can't keep ignoring that 75% of the population is in favour.

I remember when Labour had their leadership, most Australians I knew really did think they had voted for KRudd, despite not being in his electorate.

I blame too much American tv coupled with not enough education on how our parliament is formed.

I think if I were to have a pet peeve over it, it would be that the party chose an Americanized spelling.

There is a reason it is spelt the way it is!
