The day would be the same length of time (we can't change how fast the Earth turns!) but the plan was to redefine a week to be 10 days. One of the reasons for this was so that people would not know what day Sunday was so they wouldn't be able to keep the traditional Christian sabbath.

As other PP have mentioned, this actually isn't true. Chickens aren't fed steroids in Aus and haven't been for a long time. They're selectively bred now to have larger breasts/thighs etc, but that's breeding not steroids.

The reason I mention it again is because I was ABSOLUTELY convinced until about 2 years ago that this was the case as were so many people I knew! I found out that it wasn't true and was really quite stunned.

    Speaking of eggs.
My sister has a farm, chooks etc.

She once opened her fridge and found a newbie chicken fresh from a layed egg in there *shudders*

It lived but i will never eat my sisters eggs.

But don't all the antibiotics they are pumped full have a similar effect to steroids?

As part of dismantling the Catholic Church they wanted to renumber the years starting from 1 from the beginning of the Revolution and created a new god, "The Goddess of Reason". Wow!

OMG that would have been awesome. Like a metric week!
And The goddess of Reason. I'm 100% in on that one!

It was also known as a Decimal or Metric calender. Days were 10 hours long, hours 100 min, mins 100 seconds. it would all make logical sense.
