Default How much do domestic cleaners charge and what do they do?

I'm not going to lie, I struggle to keep up with my washing and dishes, let alone things like vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning toilet and bathroom etc. and that's only for me and DH! I can't imagine how filthy my house will be when I have a newborn (I'm due in 3 weeks)

Just wondering if I were to get a cleaner once a fortnight to do all those chores, how much am I looking at? $50? $100 ? 200?
Do they clean anything you want, or will they only do specific things?
Do you think it's worth it or is it a waste of money and I need to pull my act together lol
    Thanks

When I lived in Sydney I think the family paid $200 a fortnight for the bathrooms and kitchen, all floors, vacuuming, mopping... I think that it. It was a huge 2 story house. For a smaller place id guess between $50-100?

Two of my g/f's have a cleaner that do just those things you said, they pay $60 and the cleaners there for 2 hours a f/n I am thinking of doing this too as I hate cleaning floors and bathrooms. And seriously $60 is not that much!! Check out Gumtree maybe...

My cleaner is $25 an hour but you will struggle to find one for this price. I refuse to pay anymore than that! As a PP said, check out gumtree. I get her out once a fortnight and she does all my floors, dusting and bathrooms. We have a triple story house, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and it takes her 2 hrs. I'm very happy with it and it makes my life that much easier.

My dads is $50 an hour and does whatever cleaning you ask her to do. Usually just vacuuming and bathrooms.

I pay $40 an hour which I believe is at the expensive end. I get the cleaner for three hours once a fortnight and she makes my house sparkle so she is well worth her hourly rate! Previously on and off, particularly when in smaller apartments I've paid $25/30 an hour. Never been particularly happy with any of the 'agency' cleaners.

They do take up your time though, and create more washing. Plus you feel the need to keep your place cleaner for the little one (and potential ******s of visitors).
