Anxious...love the bathtub protocol approach...lol... wow growth hormone so early... are you taking an entire ampule daily or have you split it... Im just working out what to do with my current protocol ... the saizen is so expensive..the cheapest I can get it is $135... ironically not through my fertility clinic whom charges $195...
Fortitude... the gamete donation laws in NSW and QLD are very different... they allow material to be imported from overseas and egg donation from women whom have not had a family. By law they require a visit to a pychologist for both parties... and that is about it. A lot of people travel from victoria to have gamete donation.
wanabeamum... you sound like me... I am on my last cycle as well.... and will do the kitchen sink...
hopeful... lets hope that 2013 is your year... sounds like we will all be cycling together in the next few months
Sunny...lets hope the weight loss goes well... Ive still got a few goodies..blame BFN pity party for that...unfortunately the only way to get rid of them seems to be my mouth at the moment..
ok answers to protocol questions
LONG DOWN REG... essentially works often best for older women. the idea is to shut down the ovaries into a menopause state for 14days. Then stimming begins with FSH and you get a more even follicle growth. There is some studies that show that going on the ocp prior to starting FSH can help as when you stop the ocp the pituitary can have a little FSH surge which can help recruit follicles.,
It is a long cycle starting on day 21 or 7 days prior to AF.
Antagonist cycle.. this starts on day 2 of cycle and relies on the bodies natural hormone levels to recruit follicles. The down side is that you can be prone to cysts (which will cancel a cycle) and often will get irregular follicle growth. the through behind this cycle is that it helps with women that get too oversuppressed on the long down reg.
Agonist/ antagonist cycle ..... this is a blend of both protocols... a low dose lucrin prior to the cycle with a antagonist protocol... the idea is that when you stop the lucrin you get a large FSH flare which recruits follicles and the idea is that this works better with older women.
after trying most of these cycles I have to say that the long down reg works best with me.
Things to watch to ensure you have a good cycle....
baseline.... estrogen <250 progesterone <2 (3 is allowable) LH >1
LH > 1 ... if LH drops below this level it has been associated with poor egg quality... adding LH can help (luveris)
progesterone... a rise in progesterone levels indicate that the follicles are breaking down... ie 1--->3 if you get a large rise >6 it is an indication of premature luteinisation and is associated with poor outcome.
Estrogen... associated with follicle growth and health of follicles... low estrogen with many follicles indicates that the granulosa cells around the follicle are not happy and not making much estrogen.. which leads to poor quality eggs...
aproximately 1 mature follicle = 600-800
an estrogen dip prior to trigger can also be associated with poor egg quality.
gonal F - fsh synthetic
luveris... synthetic LH
Menopur.. FSH + LH (from urine menopausal women)
pregnyl... HCG- natural
ovudril.. synthetic HCG
Saizen... Growth hormone
Lucrin... supression injection
syneral... supression.. nasal spray
cetrotide. oragulan... suppression short acting.
well I have the evil post ivf AF.. and i have been indulging in a bit of wine and coffee...and enjoying it sooooooo much. Im slowly sorting out my next cycle... protocol.. Im just going to write it out and see if my FS agrees... its pretty much the same as my prior one except Ill be back on gonalF and luveris as I think that it works better for me compared to menopur... my next decision is just the timing and how much I am willing to spend on saizen..
started the DHEA and my vitamins today... and will go back on the pill on saturday... then it will only be about 2 weeks before Im injecting lucrin again... WOW... but I seem to go ok with back to back cycles so we will see.
