Fort... good luck for tomorrow.... lets hope that you have quite a few mature eggs tomorrow and a great fertilisation rate...

tens..lets hope that your appointment this week goes well. I hope you had a lovely day of rememberance...

Sunny... hope you can get some nitrodur.... lets hope that the FS is open to this.

all ready to get up early tomorrow to make the scan... got to leave home before 6am... sigh... at least I will be home early... I have never had a cycle like this where it is completely in the unknown what to do... most cycles have been textbook... bam bam... by the book... very frustrating for me.

I am thinking of you often at the moment- must be driving you crazy not knowing what will happen. Hope it work out perfectly. Really really hoping.
Micca Hope you sleep a little better tonight.

Will update my (hopeful) haul tomorrow, and see how many are mature then fertilise. Petrified it will be like last cycle- 1 viable egg from 8 follicles.

    thinking of you Fort...

well back from the scan.... 8 follicles 14-15mm, lining 11.5mm the FS was very happy with this. He is so lovely We had a nice chat about the cycle and how I was thinking about doing an IUI if the levels were crap... he said to do the IVF as this was my best chance and he thought the follicles looked good. Also chatted about how a lot of REs now look at the growth of the follicles over the estrogen levels and some dont even check them....

So one more day of growing and trigger tuesday then pick up thursday. I was going to do a 3 day transfer but the theatres are closed on sunday... so it looks like a 4 day transfer on monday... as I am flying back tuesday. So we will see... got to get a blood test tomorrow... but now it is just waiting until thursday. Other questions I have to think about is whether to stay an extra day and do a 5 day..but it would involve changing flights and cancelling clients at work on weds... at this stage Im not inclined to do it...we will see

Micca- sounds GREAT!!!! The lining sounds perfect and the follicles seem a good size plus nice and even.

    I'm Home!
EPU morning started with lots of tears. Half way there my mobile rings and the
FN ask "where am I?". Despite writing down the time as 7.30am... it was apparently 7.00am!!! OMG (slaps self and blames hormone brain ). Luckily I was early (for what I thought my time was) and am quick at getting changed and have done it all before- so the missed time was made up easily.

After I feel great, and was waiting patiently... geesh come on! Tell me already! Thursday's follicle scan showed 6 perfect and 4 littlies <12mm. I figured it could be anything from 1 (like last time) to 10- but realistically 5-6.

Well my day has been made:

9 eggs! 7 look mature (so far) and 2 look 'borderline' and they'll see what happens to them in the next few hours. They will ring after lunch with the final results. But 9... OMG 9!!! My best cycle EVER.

Certainly looks like it was worth the Human Growth Hormone gamble.
Because even if it is 7 that is one more than my best past cycle.

Of course I couldn't resist giving my FS a HUGE HUG for her genius guru drug regime- which made it all possible. She was all smiles and feeling very positive for us. I <3 my FS.

Message to my eggs: time to party with your daddy- if you all want to volunteer for the position of "beloved child" that's OK, because if I have a BFP I promise not to let the rest of you go to waste. I will find you a mummy who will love you like I would. You can still dream of a wonderful life. xoxoxo

The final verse of a poem that inspired me:

May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.

Micca and Fort - SO FAR SO GREAT!!!!! Cant believe you both have such good results so far. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

    Micca -
your sense of relief and the trust you place in your FS is almost palpable. I am so glad the hard part is over for you after such a hell of a run. Its really intersting that your FS said that some of FS's look at follicle growth and dont even consider oestrogen or maybe you mean its the other way around? Either way I wish we patients had more information so we knew how to gauge these things! Is he going to transfer one or two? Either way fantastic result so far. You certainly have proven that putting a lot of effort and thought into this pays off.
Fortitude - I read your beautiful words and I almost cried. What a beautiful soul you are. I cant believe how amazing your results are - 9!!! Your a rockstar! Now I am sending good vibes your way and hope they all fertilise

Tens - I went to see a new FS today. I went armed with my pieces of paper which included info from this thread plus other stuff, questions I had etc. I knew exactly what I wanted from an FS as I have been around the traps a few times now. I wanted someone who: 1. I felt comfortable with and who I could talk to. 2. was proactive, willing to try new things and knew about latest developments 3. they need to care eg by giving me their full attention during a cycle and not palming me off to nurses or checking my results regularly. As a result I had a very direct conversation with this FS. What Im learning is that if you dont ask, you dont get and also that it is highly possible and not unreasonable to ask for all these things in your specialist. Tens I found it did me a lot of good. Stopped me feeling like I was powerless. So important before you go on the rollercoaster ride that you can test the track first!
Net - Lovely to hear from you! Woohoo lets party!!
Sunny - I too am going to take Nitrodur on my next cycle. I spoke to "potential new FS" today and he has written me a script. He said he had not seen conclusive results on it yet but that it was worth a try. He said that the only side effect was that it can give you headaches, just so you know (not like a mere headache is a problem for the likes of us).

AFM - well I saw potential new FS today. He is the head FS of the clinic were my last FS works. I met him at my transfer and he was the one who broke the news to me that my last cycle was probably going to fail. Inspite of this sad introduction I like him. I will have to go through my notes, but from memory, he recommended the following:
    • Lucrin
    • Down reg cycle that he would turn into an agonist if my hormones played up.
    • Saizen
    • FSH of 300 - I tried to challenge him on this but he said he believes in quality over quantity. Hmm.... I still think the estrogen primed agonist antagonist with the high fsh is probably better but I would need to convince him and dont know how?
    • He also recommended the test for killer cells and the lipoid flush (is that what you call it?) that Micca had.
    • clexane
    • pregnisone
    • pregnyle
He described it as taking elements of a colorado and an antagonist agonist protocol. I hope he wasnt humouring me when he said that... oh well. Im just trying to digest it before I make up my mind. hmmm..

Wannabe- that FS sounds like he rocks!!!
Having just tried the Human Growth Hormone- I would recommend it. Best egg #s yet and so many mature and viable. Sure beats the heck out of my 1 viable last time.
Thanks for your support. Hope we both have babes in arms by this time next year.

    UPDATE:
Am ecstatic now. Spoke with the lab, and 1 of the 2 'fence sitting' ones was mature enough!!
8 eggs have now had their PICSI party - it was a kinky type of ménages à trois involving an embryologist (shhh it's our little secret)

I am cautiously hopeful for tomorrow. Of all the eggs we have ever had in the past the fertilisation rate has been 100%- so surely a good number will fertilise?

Dear PICSIed Eggs- remember what we spoke about? The dream? The new life? I know it has been a huge upheaval being ripped from your warm follicle. The part where you met daddy's good intentions might not have been exactly what you thought either. Hang in there, stay strong and grow! Mummy is waiting for you. xoxoxo

fort great news on the 8 mature eggs...woohoo..,now eggs get roaring drunk and knocked up with some super sperm...lol... hope they have a great party. That is such great news... you seem absolutely thrilled. Love the quotes and promises... I do the same thing....

wanabe...woohoo on the new cycle and a great FS. I must say I found that a long down reg cycle works better for me as it does not drop my LH as much (stays above 1) whereas the antagonist/agonist cycle drops it too much which is the problem I have had this cycle with the funky egg growth and low estrogen. Oh and I think that 300 is a great number.... I will not go above 450 for my next cycle as I think 600 was way too high for my ovaries. And yep I am a great fan of the lipoidal flush/endometrial biopsy..Ive done 3 now.

well my estrogen is about the same level as the last cycle..and I think the follie count is similar (I ended up with 10 eggs 4 mature). I had a look at my levels... and I only got 3 crappy embryos so I hope that this will not be the case on thursday...time will tell. This waiting game is hard.... at least I will be busy visiting friends tomorrow... and going to the beach and lunch on weds.
Oh and I had a full strength coffee today... ordered a flat white and forgot to say decaff and did not realise until I had drunk most of it...lol.... by GOD it was yummy... wonder if I can sleep tonight..lol...
Blood test tomorrow... hope levels have risen again.
