No. Im back on DHEA now and I was on it for months before but I cant say I had an increase of nightmares. My only symptoms were oily skin and hair, hair loss, hormonal lows and pimples.

Out of these symptoms the only one I found intolerable was the hormonal low moods - that is why its important to make sure you're being monitored on DHEA. It was giving me an estrogen overload.

    Hi there Ladies

Just a quick update on my visit with Naturopath today... OMG I finally feel like someone understands me...she did a couple of body scans and feels my issues are chronic fatigue syndrome and emotional stress.Basically I have been hanging on to all the issues that surrounded my boys birth/family let down issues ect and the scan revealed I have built a sheild around me to prevent that hurt again - hence the reason my only friends are you guys I no longer allow people in my body has shut down including my metabolism which is why I have been unsuccessful in losing any weight-I have been saying this to my GP for 4 years and they think im going nutty cause I keep wanting tests done. The scan pointed out all the areas in my body that have been in pain with a massive red zone around my heart and the back of my head which I believed to be neck issues however she believes this to be the zone of unresolved issues it was almost like she was a clairvoyant by reading my body she was able to point out things I knew but have been ignoring she has given me some herbs /drops ect to assist with clearing my mind, the fatigue and to restart my body and give me energy back I have to return in a couple of weeks and she will then start the process of giving me back my confidence as she believes my mind is holding me back and ultimately preventing me from falling. I have actualy felt this for yrs after losing all confidence in me and my body when I lost my boy.

Net -whilst not quiet on "happy Pills" hopefully wot I shall taking shall have that effect.

Wanabemum-My Naturopath pointed out that ivf is sooooooo emotional that we are all effected emotionally in so many ways and that this can be a huge barrier as quiet often we blame ourselves and our bodies when realy we have very little control as to how it will all end....

Micca- she took a look at your suggestions as to the vitamins ect I shood be taking and said you were spot on to get my health back on track.. thank u you wise women...

Now just have to work on clearing my mind... and she feels I may need to postpone my next cycle until I do so,so my next cycle is successful she feels my age and body is no barrier just my mind!!!

    hope everyone else is well

Thanks for letting me rave on

Tens - thanks for sharing!! Do you know you mention "blame" and my FS said that he has come across a lot of women over the years who seem to blame themselves. He looked at me and he repeated about 3 times the words "you are not to blame!". Those words made a huge, powerful difference to me. Some things are just out of our control. Do you know what herbs she is putting you on? Everything you said about feeling shut down resonates. Great to have the feedback about Micca's regime!

Micca - I have been on your vitamins and green slime for a few days now and it has made a huge difference already. I feel a lot better and am no longer getting the munchies (thank goodness). I have even lost a few kilos but I put this partly down to all the fluid I must have been carrying up until the end of my cycle.

tens...what a fantastic appointment you have had... lets hope that herbal concoctions will help...and definately try the green smoothie...it is really cleansing.
Im so glad that my vitamins are spot on...

Wanabe..woohoo on the green smoothies... you definately do feel better and the weight loss is great... although lately with the zoley pill and prednisone I have felt more of the nibbles creeping in with some more chocolate hits than what I normally eat.... I do miss the smoothie on days I dont have it... keep up the good work..

fortitude...how are things going for you...

fingers...any updates on scans... blood tests...??

well a long long day at work... ate chinese for tea..enjoyed it but it did have a bit of msg in it..sigh.. so wont be having that for a long time... the problems of living in the country.. no choice..
So I have one week to go before AF arrives and the cycle begins..wow it seems to have come around so quickly... still awaiting results of my endometrial biopsy done last week... hope that the infection has gone
Feeling ok... and my friends keep telling me how great I look...so the green drinks must be doing something even though Im pretty sleep deprived.lol.
Lets hope all of you gals have as much success as I do. Oh and I have added colostrum to the smoothie now as well...

Colostrum, eww! Glad you are looking good on your new regime, it doesn't half make you feel good to look buff! Congrats Micca and best wishes for your cycle. Let's hope the week goes fast.
Tens, how wonderful that you feel you have some answers and a way forward. That's great.
Fort, shame about the DHEA response. It was always quite benign for me. Some ladies on SMC commented on how thick and glossy their hair got and strong fingernails too. Hang in there for those benefits!
    AFM - still patiently waiting.

Fortitude your funny! But why not throw in a bit of colostrum? I say BRING IT ON! I cant even imagine trying to explain half this stuff to my non-ivf friends.

Ive decided to take up Yoga - yes that is right: Y-O-G-A because Ive read that it helps with fertility. It supports adrenals in some way apparently and in balancing emotions. Maybe with a rabbits foot its even more effective? I'll have to google that one...

Ive just been reading up on DHEA again. Can I ask what dose everyone is on? Im taking 75 but Im wondering if this is too high?

Im taking 75mg dhea... but have only been taking it for about 8 weeks... I was on 50mg prior to that as it makes my hair fall out... I also monitoring my testosterone to make sure the dhea did not send it too high.. it can also cause high day 3 progesterones as well.... so my FS has me stopping it before stimming this cycle...

go the yoga... must do some.... I keep forgetting to do my femoral massage..lol

Yoga journal has a 21 day challenge you can do Micca. I did the sign-up 4 days ago and have yet to complete a single work-out but will get it started today. Kind of convenient getting a daily email. Feeling a bit sad today. AF turned up yesterday and it's the first cycle I have not been aimed at some kind of fertility venture, ie either doing a cycle or deliberately waiting some out.

I'm finding it hard to be in limbo-land and behaving unhealthily as a result. Am having a sickie to deal with the cramps because I cannot be bothered to go to work and be nice.

I have tried the following fort. Weightloss, accupuncture, chinese herbs, vitamin supplements, naturopathy, therapy, visualising, DHEA 75mg, St Jerome (I got on my knees every day for a month to pray to St Jerome and say a litany), a 22 x 11 recommended by Michael Domeyko Rowland who wrote a book about happiness. I've been doing yoga a couple of times a week for a couple of years. A rabbit's foot can't hurt, why not? If you want my St Jerome kit, I'm happy to send one on. Long story but I ended up with 2.

In relation to DHEA I don't think many FS seem to know how to use it properly. It needs to build up in the system and takes 2-3 months to do that. If you are going to stop it at particular points in the cycle, then it will still be in your system anyway and when you need it the level in your body may have dropped from when you stopped taking it. My FS refused to renew my script from the previous FS just before the start of a cycle and it really annoyed me that I couldn't start using it again. Some older women seem to get the benefit when they hit the 6 month mark of using it which I had just got to. It also prevented me from being able to judge whether it was helpful for me or not. The studies that the effectiveness of DHEA was based on used 80mg. I'd only take less than 75 if you were getting nasty side effects.

most data on the benefits of dhea have all been done with 75mg... 25mg 3 x day... the most recent studies..2011 onwards... show that it can have an affect on increased pregnancy rates even after taking for 1 month, it will not increase the number of eggs collected but will improve the quality of the eggs so that more fertilise into good embryos. The original study 20yrs ago was a very small group and showed improvement however the results were not really replicated in following studies...so it was unconculsive, However in the last 2yrs there has been many more studies which do support its use.
The effects of dhea are to increase the testosterone level and estrogen.. which poor responders and older women are often low on. Hence the reason it should not be used if you have PCOS as your testosterone levels are already super high.
it should be monitored while you are on it... at least a day 3 bloods 1-2 months in just to check your estrogen and testosterone levels to see how you respond to it.
the side effects are mainly related to increased testosterone...pimples, facial hair and hair loss..these resolve with decreasing the dose or stopping.
One downside is that it can increase day 3 estrogens and progesterone...
other downsides of dhea is that the pill may not suppress follicle growth as the estrogenic effect can encourage follicle growth..women often ovulate on the pill while on dhea... you may need a strong pill..or 2xdose to suppress

There are many forms available of dhea... in australia you need a script.. 100 tabs 25mg around $65, you can get it from the states for about $10.. but do research and look at the vitamin companies... some are gold star and others are very shoddy...so make sure you are buying from one with a good reputation.

    I hope that this helps
