Default Alcohol/Bar at a school Fete? WDYT?

I've never heard of or seen this at a primary school fete before... But a friend recently told me at their child's public school Fete there will be a bar servicing alcohol for the parents.....

    Appropriate?

I'm not sure what time of day/ how long a fete normally goes for, but I don't think it's a problem.

I'd be happy to have a glass of wine at a lunch time event or later, especially if there is also food or it goes for a few hours.

    Alcohol doesn't equal drunkenness.

Our private school had one. Was no issue.

Jeez, it's a school fete - cant we do anything without alcohol anymore?! Seems a bit unnecessary in my opinion, but then again I'm not much of a drinker since becoming a mum.

What's wrong with that? Italian families have wine at the dinner table all the time and their kids don't end up binge drinking. Quite the opposite really.

Nothing wrong with parents having a beer or wine with a meal.

Sure we can, but you could say the same about coffee.

Some people enjoy a glass of wine/ beer, without it being anything terrible, rowdy, or awful.

Just enjoying a civilised drink with your food... I don't see it as an issue.

Alcohol is a cacenogenic every drink does damage to your body it's not something I think schools should be normalizing.

Last year out school had a twilight Christmas market, it was from 4pm and there was a BBQ and wine/beer area. It was really nicely done, we wandered round the market, kids could safely play while parents ate dinner and enjoyed a glass of wine & a chat.
