My beautiful partner and I have decided to start the search for a sperm donor to hopefully extend our little family of 3 to 4!! Only problem is we have no idea where to start. Are you wanting to do at home insem or through a clinic?

I know there are websites out there where you can connect with potential donors, bit like a dating site I would assume, and I think it's free BUT I don't know the names. Sorry.

If you use a clinic then they give you a list of donors who are guaranteed to have undergone counseling and testing.
My DP and I chose this way and picked an anonymous donor from an American sperm bank. We did IUDI and should find out next week if we get our BFP?!!!

Sorry if I wasn't much help but good luck with your journey!!!

Hi, my partner and I also want to extend our family.
We were thinking of using fertility first and
    An american donor.
Could any one tell me, how much did they pay in
Total, and did the private Medicare pay for any of it and is
    Fertility first the best option.
    Thank you

    Hi annieblom,
We used Fertility First this year & they have been amazing, I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant! Dr Anne & all the nurses are wonderful, I'm sure you would be happy with their services!

As for how much, this is my breakdown (what I kept track of anyway) bearing in mind I had to have a small operation to remove some polyps in my uterus. I did get a fair bit back from medicare. I want to say around $500 for each iui.....

    285 1st appoint
    490 hycosy
    100 councilling
    85. Follow up dr Ann
    50 Multi vitamin
    30. Vitamin d
    1450 hospital
    380. Procedure
    380. Anithsist
    180 Pathology
    175 Xytex membership 3 months
    2050 iudi (including donor sperm)
2050 2nd iui (including donor sperm)
    $7705 total

Hope this helps a little & goodluck to you both 😃

Hi ladies, I'm a single parent who conceived my second child who is 10 weeks old using donor sperm. I chose not to go through a sperm bank as I wanted to meet and get to know my donor.

I used a website called FSDW, they were recently featured on 60 minutes, I'm sure you would be able to watch the doc online as it was only a couple of Sunday's ago. Checkout the page and see if it is something that sounds like you.

I initially went through a fertility specialist but the cost and the negative tests each month became too much.

Good luck with your journey. If you have any questions then feel free to send me a private message.

Welcome littleboyblue! Good luck with your search! I am using FSDW and have found a fantastic donor. There is a few odd ones about but that's where you use care and trust your gut. My main reason for going down this path is so that I could meet the donor and also so my future child has more access to ask him questions etc. if you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

Nelle - I just seen in your signature your thinking about bub #3!!! How exciting!
