Default Flat Cloth with PUL covers??

    Hi Guys,

This may very well be a stupid question... ....BUT....can you use flat nappies with the 'fitted' PUL covers of Baby Beehinds and the like??

I really like the idea of using MCN on this bub, but am not sure how 'dedicated' I will be. Would rather see how I go first before I buy heaps of MCN (and also to see what sex this bub is so I can get some cute AIO's!!).

I'm assuming the PUL's will allow for more breathing than the old style pilchers from target??

    Thanks,
    Kellie

Yup, that would be fine. I'd be inclined to get bigger PUL covers, if the flats will be bulky (of course I am no expert with flats, RainbowBrite is a good one to ask about them )

The thi7ng about MCN is they have a wonderfully high resale value.
If your 53e able to, you could even make your own pocket nappies Nappies Covered sells ready to sew kits.

I use flats with mcn covers.
I started on cloth with Av using flats and soakers I knitted myself. Very inexpensive that way. I did that to see if I would be dedicated! And yep now we are full time cloth.

I thought my ears where burning queenie

I use flat most of the time but i use yucky pvc pilcher or fluffies covers. I have used BB covers on them, though i used the wool one. It was a great fit, no overhang etc.

Actually I'm trying to convince my 40w6d pregnant sister to use cloth, and yeah I think the cheapest way to go is to use flats, and have someone (oe yourself if you can!) knit some soakers and longies.

    Thanks everyone!

I think I'll go and buy some flats and then add to my fitted collection (i have all of 2 ) as I go. (and then DH wont notice the $ as much if it's AFTER our baby grant!! )

    Thanks again

My fave PUL cover over flat terries are the MotherEase Airflow because they are a lower cut which means they cover a bulkier terry nappy better than something higher cut that was designed for a trim fitted.

However, my absolutely fave covers would have to be wool - knitted soakers or the sewn variety. They breathe beautifully and are wonderful even in the heat of summer.

I use flats all the time at home. Flannelette flats most of the time and terries when DD is sleeping. I usually boost the terries with microfibre for day sleeps and microfibre + hemp at night.
DD is about 10kg now and I have a large size Bummis cover (14kg+ I think they are, so about a size bigger than we would need using fitteds) and that fits perfectly over the terries, but is still too big over the flannelette. I also have some medium size covers that fit great.
Maybe get a combination of terry and flannelette flats to start with, and some small covers...don't bother with the newborn size ones.

I sometimes use flats with a PUL cover but I usually just fold the nappy into a rectangle and place it in the cover and it works fine. I mostly do this because I am pretty hopeless at folding flat nappies but you could give it a try.

I've also taken to doing the same- I fold up a flannellette nappy into a rectangle and use it inside a Tots Bots PUL cover. It's so handy- I only have 6 MCN's so far this works great. I have so many flats left over from when Ronan was younger, may as well use them and save some $!
