    Default Low Key Engagement....

Has anyone else had a really low-key engagement/proposal?

DP (DF! lol) got engaged yesterday and basically we picked the ring together at the shops on Sunday and later in the afternoon we were sitting on the bed and I basically told him that we know how we feel about each other and our future together and there really need not be a song and dance about the proposal. So he then began his proposal and of course I accepted.

I guess it was all rather unconventional and it's not that we are non-romantic people... I think it's just been so long coming that it was just well and truly time to make an official statement about how we feel...

I must admit though, now I feel a little deflated and like perhaps I cheated us out of something more.... dramatic and special.....

    hmmmm....

Yep totally undramatic. On the couch after a few wines and DH pulled out the ring we had purchased. He figured this was the only way to surprise me.

I don't think things need to be dramatic to be special.

    Congratulations!!

    Pretty much the same here!

DH was soooo nervous and had gone out that day to get the ring and was planning on doing it on our anniversary but people kept texting him asking about it so was scared I would find out. So he dropped to one knee in the middle of our lounge room in front of the kids and asked me to marry him

    Congrats on the engagement!

I think it's nice when it doesn't have to be too dramatic! Dh and I were having fish and chips and he told me he wanted to marry me. I said 'yeah I know' because we'd spoken about it so much. He had to say it again and tell me he was actually proposing because I was getting frustrated with him when he kept saying it!!! Oops! We then went and bought a ring together which was very cheap but just so i had one! I still have it 6 years later despite dh wanting to upgrade it! I am more sentimental though and want to wear the ring we bought together!

Ours wasn't a huge big song and dance, it was pretty low key, but still really romantic.
We went out for a take-away coffee (after having dinner out), and drank our coffee by the local boat harbor. Afterwards we were watching the water, him standing behind me with his arms around me, he passed me a ring and said it was his promise to me, as I opened the box he asked me to marry him.
We used to always go for coffee there after dinner out, so it really wasn't anything out of the ordinary, so it was totally unexpected.

Well I still think mine is the least romantic so far

I never wanted anything huge but after waiting like over 10yrs for the moment I feel like we might have rushed the last hurdle...

    CONGRATS!!

I was playing an online poker tournament in my PJ's, hung over to the max & looking like it too! He did go down on one knee, but I discovered he'd used some money I'd won playing cards the night before. I tease him that I won my ring in a poker game & he's still amazed I actually remember winning.

Trust me.... mine was way less romantic. My DH proposed while I was folding the washing, and he quote Bret Michael's during the proposal hahaha. That's why I love him so much
