Default 4 yr old with really bad breath - help!

I would be looking into something other than teeth...

Infections of the tonsils/throat/sinus/lungs or esophageal thrush (I get this and it makes my breath so foul to the point that I can even tell!) are more likely. Bad oral hygiene (which doesn't sound like he has) would cause dental caries way before breath that bad.

Default 4 yr old with really bad breath - help!

I knew a little girl with this problem once - it went on for a few months and when taken to Dr it turned out she had put a piece of foam mattress up her nose and that was causing the smell.

Default 4 yr old with really bad breath - help!

My step daughter had bad bad breathe and it turned out lots of dental cavities (full of bacteria)- teeth were filled or removed (there were 6) and her breathe is much better. We also have her rinsing her mouth with a kids mouthwash morning and night at our house (not sure what she does at her mums)

My son has severe tonsil problems and if they are infected my gosh his breath is rancid!! He has insanely enlarged tonsils so when I look in his mouth I can hardly see a gap between them and his epiglottis (that is the dangly thing yeah?!) he is on the waiting list to get them taken out and is near the top now a whole year later! Good luck xx

Thank you so much ladies. I think I will need to make an apt with the GP & the dentist (lucky for me, my FIL is a dentist!).

I hope it's easy to treat!

My DD2 and DS had it too. Others commenting on how bad their breathe was and all 3 times it was something up the nose. 2 foam and one video tape???? anyways with last could not see anything up there even dr struggles yet at hospital pulled 3 cms of tape out of her nostril. Dr said it is common as little fingers can push stuff up high that can't be seen and only smell gives it away....thus can be up there ages and no one knows. Best of luck
