Bleach does kill mould but not on porous surfaces. It will kill the surface mould but not the roots which are embedded in the pores. DF recommended I use bleach, he is an industrial chemist and formulates cleaning goods for a living.

Agree with oil of cloves. Get it from the chemist, dilute in a spray bottle of water. Spray on mould. Use a microfibre cloth to wipe off.

Default Getting rid of mould on the wall above the shower?

OP, I had this problem when we were renting but the cause was poor ventilation to the bathroom. We told our real estate agent & they had an extractor fan installed. No more mould. Before you clean it off, I'd suggest you take photos of the problem area & email them to the agent. If you're doing all you can & the problem persists it's their responsibility to maintain the property for the owner.

Chlorine bleaches the mould, it kills other germs but does kill not all moulds. Domestic strength bleach does not have the pH to eradicate mould. It kills bacteria, it kills some virus and it also kills people when used in the wrong quantities - domestic bleach is strong enough to kill people.

Bleach damages the environment as well.

If you're happy to use bleach, go for it but the is quite uncalled for.

My MIL swears by Ajax for just about everything. But never used it myself so wouldn't know about the mould you can test it all on my bathroom if you like
