DS stopped catnapping around 11 months when he went down to 1 day sleep, now he'll go 1.5 hours.

7.5 months and he was an awful cat napper! He used to sleep half an hr so basically spent the day napping but when at 7.5 months he started having 2 naps and now at almost 12 months he has one big nap starting at midday which lasts between 1.5 hrs and 2.5 hours

DS stopped catnapping at about 7.5 months. It took a lot of work to teach him to resettle but now he will usually sleep for 1.5 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, a far cry from 30 minutes twice a day (after 40+ minutes of trying to get him to sleep).

I resettled DS in his cot - patting and shushing - to try to teach him to resettle.

    Good luck!

At 6 months she started to have two big sleeps, but it only lasted about three weeks, then she went back to catnapping. Now she is nearly 8 months and will have a longer nap most days around 1.5 hours, sometimes she will have 2 big naps. I leave her for 5 minutes when she wakes up to see if she will resettle, she does most times now.

Thanks all. I have a toddler so resettling without interruptions is hard.

My DD is 10 months and still cat naps! I have given up on trying to resettle her, I figure that thats just the way she is as she sleeps for ages at night. She has been sleeping 12 hrs at night since 6 wks old and has always cat napped during the day, until recently when she will occasionally (and I mean occasionally) sleep for 1.5hrs for one of her naps, so maybe she is starting to show signs of changing? I wont hold my breath LOL
