Lilbaby - ur hcg is moving in the right direction - but of course it would be hard not to worry.

Well it will be 2 weeks past my transfer date this friday - not sure when I should test?!?

    Anyone still around?

We lost a few posts so I've lost track a bit.

Had my BT today (clinic agreed to bring it forward a day) and, as expected, was a BFN. I'm not too upset. Did all my crying and anger when I tested at home, and today was just confirming the inevitable. I'm now enjoying a lovely glass of champagne.

One thing I wanted to ask - which is a bit personal - is what your clinics have told you regarding DTD?

I've always steered clear after ET (the pessaries don't really help that scenario anyway). I thought that if you had a history of miscarriage (or any problems at all) then the advice was to NOT do it, as it could increase the risk of it happening.

Today my midwife asked if we were, and I said yes for the first half of the month and no for the 2nd. She said that we SHOULD be doing it for the 2nd half too, and that it can reduce inflammation after ET. My FS has just said to do whatever we want and either way is fine. She said the advice to abstain is old fashioned and they no longer tell people that.

So now I'm confused. I'm happy with her more recent advice (!) but scared about doing anything to increase the risk of miscarriage. I would have thought that any uterine contractions (tmi???) could maybe make the baby... fall out... erm... I realise how that sounds...

    Hi Ladies,
I've been distant, usually post from my phone but it's not working. I have deactivated my FB account because I just couldn't deal with the accidental pregnancies anymore and we've had a huge shock re: our IVF journey and I feel really alone. So apologies for just jumping in after not posting for ages, but I'm thinking bad thoughts and need to get it off my chest....

My DP and I went into IVF 12 months ago essentially by "choice" as a same sex couple wanting to use unknown donor sperm. My DP was planned to carry, as she had no fertility issues, spot on 29 day cycle, spot on ovulation date each month, whereas I am significantly overweight and have PCOS. I am also the "bread winner", and am on contract to contract at my teaching job, so no maternity leave, but DP is permanent, eligible for mat leave and earns less so makes sense for her to be having time off to have baby.

12 months down the track, excellent egg pick up, 6 A grade 5 day blasts, and doctor telling us "you will definitely get a baby or two out of these" we were so cocky, and just assumed it'd work first go....second go.....third go....still BFN.

Saw FS yesterday, (3 embryo's transferred since April, all BFN's, one failed to thaw so 2 frosties left), and he starts with, "Wow, 3 transfers of excellent embryos and not even a hint of pregnancy, there must be an implantation issue". 10 minutes later we're bawling our eyes out at the prospect of having a "Fertility Issue", when we thought we were the "lucky ones" choosing to do IVF, not being forced to due to issues.

So, apart from the FS being a complete "c word" yesterday, the devastating news of potential NK cells is totally breaking us and we have NO idea how to feel or what to think or even what to do next. The only thing we can agree on is changing FS, and this will be a wait as we only have 4 to choose from in Canberra. That said, easier emotionally to get my head around this journey knowing we won't be seeing "c word" again.

Has anyone else had a diagnosis of NK cells? Has anyone felt so hopeless, broken and shattered that they just want to give everything up? Has anyone else thought that perhaps this is "karma" for bad things you've done in your life?

I'm thinking such bad thoughts, blaming myself, thinking maybe I'm just not supposed to be happy, have a family etc etc.

Again, sorry for the me post.....

PS-Yo Teach has sent request to join FB group. It's me under a different name, (as I've closed my other account).

    Hi jaandaw,

I really don't know much about the immune/implantation issues that you talk about but I do know that I started reading a thread on BH the other day which was specifically related to this problem (sorry I don't like calling it a problem)- there seemed to be a lot of ladies responding and I do believe that they are put on specific medications to help overcome this.

Its really hard to stay positive through all these trials and tribulations that we face but you really should try not to blame yourself. You should phone around the other FS in ur city and explain ur situation to see who can best accommodate you.

I hope you are feeling ok and you and ur DP can find the strength to continue on :-)

Hugs people who have not had good luck recently.

I am likely to have implantation issues - we are now doing cycle 3 and I am taking clexane and prednisolone (steriod) meant to assist. My FS is good in that he will try different things. I havent been tested for killer cells or immune issues etc but at least what I am taking may make a difference. I have had 1 MC, 2 chemical pregnancies and rest BFN from 5 transfers - unfort the FS thinks it is also a numbers game and we are dealing with MFI as well.

I am really struggling this time with the bloating - I seriously look like I am 6 months pregnant and very difficult to hide at work. I am on higher drugs this time 450 dose which I think is making a difference. I have a scan tomorrow to hopefully see how many follies are there. I am not a high responder and last time only got 4 eggs so hoping for a few more this time.

Hope everyone else is okay and trucking along.

    Have a good night.

    Jandaaw,

I also do not know anything about immune or implantation issues but I can relate to alot of the other points in your post. First of all I am so sorry your journey has been so tough. Sometimes it just feels like everything is against you and it can be really really trying. You are definitely making the right decision changing FS. Me and my DP wasted 18 excruciating months before we decided to change FS and the only regret we have now is that we didn't do it sooner. If they are not working for you then dump them and find someone that will. Dont give up hope! Me and my DP are also same sex I feel like as a same sex couple I have more options because if I had fertility issues then my partner could try. There are advantages. Try to stay focused on the prize and check out those threads that Mimi suggested for more info on the issues you guys are experiencing. Best of luck to you both... sending sticky vibes your way x
