Default Do you go out to dinner

For family birthdays, fathers day etc...
We always have and it's only last night I found out DH,s family never did! Not that it's a problem but for 6 years I've been suggesting/organizing restaurants for everyone's birthdays, mothers and fathers days assuming everyone goes out for their birthdays and his SIL tells me last night they always just stayed at home!

Yes we do, and if we don't go out to an actual restaurant we organise a big gathering at one of our houses.
We're having a big Fathers Day BBQ at our place tomorrow.

No we don't. We did in my family growing up, but now we generally just have a nice meal at home that the birthday person gets to choose the meal.
We have birthday dinner's at home for several reasons now...young kids, food allergies, expense. It's just easier to have it at home.

    Helllllllllll no.
We used to all the time with one child, but now with 3 (2 mad toddlers) its just unpleasant.
We have a big house with a big table so much easier to have celebrations here.
I really miss it though! Going out for dinner is one of my favourite things. DH and I try to do it at least once every few months.

We don't due to food issues with DH, DD1 & DD3 far too hard.

Growing up going out for birthdays/special occasions, for both DH and I was more like fish and chips at the beach or pizza hut (when it was eat in) or sizzler.

Different families do different things and nobody had exactly the same upbringing surely this isn't a huge surprise?

It's about half/half between going out somewhere reasonably child friendly eg kidsclub or a playground or have it at someones house and everybody bring something I prefer to have it at someones house as then the kids can just play and we can relax and of course it's cheaper.

Yes we do. Birthday's and anniversaries we do dinner. Other events like Mothers/Father day is lunch.
Christmas/Easter we host at home and have a huge lunch and dinner.

For adults only yes, where kids are involved its usually way easier and cheaper to do a gig at someone's house or a park.
