Thanks, DQ. I missed the offending posts but glad to see mods are on it

I just cannot believe that this has happened! Even if it's not passed in the Upper House, this is definitely a great start!

I just wish it was all a non-issue, this isn't something that should *have* to pass through parliament to be made legal, it just should be, just like heterosexual marriage.

    Equal rights for all!!

I was so happy when I heard it this morning, I almost let out a great big WOOP
But since I work in a quite office with my headphones on, I'm glad it was just an internal happy dance instead

I know that my opinion will be a little different, but I hope that this legislation does not pass the upper house.

Tassie isn't that backwards after all. Go tassie!
    Hopefully other states will follow.
About time. How ridicolous all this fuss in 2012.
Just make it legal and get on with other things.

Can I ask your reasons why you don't want it to pass Father?

I believe denying the right to legal union by marriage based on sexual preference is outdated and shameful. I hope you are wrong, Father.

I think its gobsmacking discrimination that people currently cant marry the people that they love.

It irks me .. that its deemed something "biblical" or "christian" to get married - because our PM is a proud atheist .. yet SHE can get married in a church if she wants to - because she is dating a man . ...

I hope the rules change before my boys grow up ... so if one of them is gay they have the same rights as each other ..

well done Tassie ... fingers crossed that Tassie becomes one of the first areas of australia to allow increased equality ...

Default Tasmanian Lower Houses passes same-sex marriage laws

I am also happy (obviously) and I hope it passes. If it passes in one state, the others (well, some of them at least!) will surely follow suit.
